Andy Cook Signs on Loan

I don't see any reason to change a winning formula. Cook can be a solid addition to the squad and come on if necessary during the game or if they think he's a better option for the opposition.

Can't believe people are suggesting Clarke is dropped, I see him as a key part of our current good form. Cooke really hit his stride on Tuesday too so would be harsh to drop him after that.

It's good to be having these discussions, shows the strength of the squad. So impressed with this window!

In answer to your first question yes that's probably a big part of it. But i think he is very composed on the ball, rarely loses possession and links up midfield and attack effectively. Fair point on the lack of assists and goals but those stats don't always show the full contribution of a player.

Not saying he's undroppable or anything but in my opinion he is worth his place right now.

 

That’s called having a strong squad which us allows us to be adaptable like we played one way against Cambridge and had to play a bit more direct against Southend. We can play with or without a target man

Cook still unhappy about how City fans reacted to his signing on the socials.

He wasn’t the first “ crap” signing, he certainly won’t be the last.

Hats off to him , he’s done well. The subtle formation changes over the season , along with further
“astute” signings ( Clayton) and returns from injury ( Walker) and Halliday banging crosses in has paid dividends for sure.

Not ashamed to say I have been a doubter over time, but credit where credit is due. The end of the season will bring up intense debate for sure.!

 

Good piece Jon, with regards the fans who criticized him coming there will always be an element of that, what I do believe is Mark Hughes brought Oliver in as our number one striker hence giving him a three year contract and starting him in the first couple of games this season.
Cook quoted with regards him coming to Valley parade he just wanted a chance to prove himself, not merely has he done that in his previous two seasons (leading goal scorer) but also gave Mark Hughes a selection problem which he eventually took including Cook in the starting 11 and he more than repaid it with his goals, long may it continue.

 

And there are still some who continue to criticise.

You have to realise which poster made that comment, he enjoys his as Andy Warhol commented "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes" controversial quotes does our Fordy .

 

I don’t think he genuinely believes it.(If he actually does,then there really is no hope)
I just think he made a stupid statement and now is too embarrassed to acknowledge that he was wrong.

 

He will have quoted that on a particular performance, and does not have it in his skill set the ability to admit he was wrong.
I wasn’t fussed at the end of last season whether he stayed or not. However, what changes my mind was his professionalism when he turned up for pre season training several stone lighter and very fit. Anyone who can dedicate that level of discipline to our cause deserves my support. He has more than rewarded the fans and I fully support him.
