Our current set of strikers reminds me of Parky's final season when we had Hanson, Jamie Proctor, Steve Davies & Wes Thomas. We caused teams problems week in week out with the physicality we had up front and almost demoralised teams when they'd got through 60/70mins of Hanson or Proctor, only for a fresh Steve Davies to come on. It also allowed more technical players like Clarke, Evans, Cullen, Reid a focal point thrive on. So it can be a formula for success.

Obviously it sounds like Novak will be out but it will also allow Trueman & Sellars to consider playing Rowe a little deeper if needed. Good to have so many impressive options all of a sudden!

 

If Novak is out until the end of March, as some rumours have it, then I think we'll only see a few more token appearances (unless Rowe or Cook get injured).
I doubt we'll renew his contract in the summer. His age and the lengthy layoffs this season will count against him.

 

I think every City fan has talked about how weak SM left the squad, that now has been addressed. I think this squad of players know there's enough depth now to replace anyone.

We're now able to also field a strong bench should we need it in 90 minutes. If Novak was ok i still think City would have signed Cook.

Ramsden from Idle or Thorpe Edge?

 

Born in Wrose. Grandmother lived in Greengates, so we used to go to Idle for fish and chips (ironically) quite a bit. She never got tired of the Idle Working Mans Club joke. My old mans from Wetherby, so I guess the Ramsden side of the family is from "other there".

 

Whoever it was that was responsible for signing Guthrie probably did so on the back of the video of his goals for Stevenage. It is worth watching and was probably put together and edited by his agent.

Novak's results are back. out for 4-6 weeks. Blow, but it has been softened by the fact they delayed announcing it until after Cook was announced. Into em Cooky.

 

It becomes clear why it wasn’t announced earlier it would have probably pushed the fee up for Cook

 

I hope the rumours regarding his character are wide of the mark. The last thing we need, now things are going so well, is a disruptive influence on the sidelines.

I've read we're paying his full contracted wages, in addition to a Loan Fee.

 

I think we payed a substantial loan fee. However we seem to have a good relationship with Sharpe at Mansfield that might have oiled the wheels,

 

The termed used was City have covered his wages. I suspect that has been done by the combination of City's contribution to his wages plus the loan fee. Mansfield get his full wages which will allow them to go for another forward

 

Looks like Port Vale and their fans are now re-evaluating the value of this transfer.

 

I hope so as City are reckoned to be paying all Cook's wages in the loan deal.
Expensive to just sit him on the bench, we have Burrell or Donaldson to bring on later in the games.
What that does to the current 4-2-3-1 formation who knows but i would like to see what both offer, the sooner the better.
