Sadly I was at a funeral and didn't have the time to travel but looked at their Forum today. They seem united that 3-4 of their team last night are not up to it. Tozer gets stick for lack of speed and seems their only weapon with long throws. A number of the team rated 3 or 4/10. Mullin apparently 5 weeks off a return, digs at PP tactics and overall thought we were poor. On the other hand the reasonable ones amongst them think they are not as good as they thought, that they are nowhere near a shoe in for promotion and, most pointed, they now realise that bragging about loads of money is working against them recruitment wise. PP commented on this over a month ago after the Jonny Williams 'playing one against another' trick.
The problem for PP is Yanks don't get our game, just look at Chelsea on one hand and the ludicrous spending at Gills on the other. Then what?. Sack the Manager.

Fair assessment Roger. I buy zero of this dollar and oil money hype. Correct to point out…..Slowly becoming victims of their own hype?

I'd happily take the lowest position League Team at home and progress in the next two rounds. Lets save the big names for the quarters. Is this the first time we've reached round 3 of a cup since 2015 ?

I'd say one of the problem is the 'yanks' (ones a Canadian) have pumped a fair bit of money in and will expect results to match their ambition. Parky has been there long enough now yet for all that money he's assembled what is a very ordinary squad with too many players on inflated salaries. As we all know this business is results based, if they don't meet the owners expectations they will look elsewhere. No room for sentiment.

Will you be saying that if we are in a packed VP at home to Pool or Man City in the next round?

Salford had that problem too, much smaller scale but had far too many on the books on for too much money. At one point, think it was their second season, maybe summer of their 3rd, Salford had 6 CBs on their books and Neville said those 6 wages rivalled the squad weekly wages for a few teams that season. They had a problem in selling and I bet Wrexham do too.

I know they made 5 changes and it was giving the bench some minutes, but that squad is pretty average at best outside of a few standouts. If you look at that defensive core individually, Tozer was an average L2 defender 10 years ago, never mind now in his mid 30s. Hayden is 26 now and had 1 full season in L2 under his belt at Carlisle and looked OK at best. McFadzean has had an up and down career everywhere he's been. Boyle had an in and out run at Cheltenham and after 1 good season went to Huddersfield and did sod all. And now Mark Howard in goal who's touching 37 and his last two seasons in goal at this level were an almost relegation at Scunthorpe and an almost relegation at Carlisle. With all their money, that is what was assembled?

Palmer and Mullin would walk into most teams in this division, Lee is a very talented player. They have high hopes for Davies and theres a few others like Jones, Cannon & Forde too would be very good for most teams but outside that it's guys who are good on their day you can depend on anymore for a promotion push.

It’s ironic that all the talk at the start was how would they manage without Mullin, who is obviously a proven striker.
That’s obviously not been a problem as they are top scorers in the whole EFL(championship only played 4 games)
Unfortunately it’s the other end where the problems are as they have also conceded the most goals in the EFL.
If you score 14 in 5 you should have more than 6 points.
I suspect nobody at the club envisaged them having a goal difference of 0 after 5 games.

Unfortunately there’s no prize money in this competition unless you get to the final. So the only way to make some serious cash is to get a big team at home and get on Sky or draw a giant away from home. The FA cup is great for prize money progress and even the Pizza cup pays money for progress. It is the first time we’ve reached round 3 of this cup since 2014/15. We got to round 3 of the FA cup in 2016 but crashed out to 10 man Bury on penalties.

Good result, lets hope for a plum home tie in the next round. The money would come in very handy. Wasn't there so I can't comment on the performance. Seen the very brief highlights and the mobility of Smith through the middle looks handy - we need to use that much more. I thought our pen was a soft one though, being honest. Looked like a robust shoulder to shoulder challenge to me.

Well at least that's one of the 'Media Loveys' out of the way, unfortunately whatever the draw the spotlight will fall on S*lford now,

I bet Salford can’t believe their luck.
Had their nose massively put out of joint by the new Sky/Wrexham wank-a-thon.

Chance for the cameras to focus back on Scholes,Keane etc in the stands again.

It is astonishing that Parky defence is so weak. Only listened to it on the radio but it looked like we had plenty of room at the back. When he was here, he always had a good defence. Surely the old adage you build from the back still stands?
