Just watched the highlights and read some comments from those who were at the game:

It’s a really good penalty save from Lewis. Matched by the one from the corner, down low saved with his legs.

Slightly soft penalty for ours but can see why it’s given. More encouraged by the good movement and link up of Smith and Walker.

Confident penalty from Smith, so early on and at their end.

Smiths pace down the right ti get away from the defender for the 1:1 reminds me of a certain Nahki Wells……..HOW LONG HAVE WE WAITED TO HAVE THIS ASSET IN OUR SQUAD??? Excited by him for this season

Halliday - as posted in recent weeks, he just has to be starting games right. Always Mr Reliable and believe he can adapt to a wing back. I feel much more confident with him in the XI. Doesn’t mean Oyegoke can’t be important for us, but for now just has to be Halliday.

Smallwood and Osadebe - happy to hear they had good games. They still need many more to regain trust of some us (me included), but credit where it’s due and support from me to keep going.
Osadebe looks as though he should have buried that chance.

Hughes and management team. Bravo!! You needed to give us a performance and indication we can use the squad and adapt to missing players. Sounds like you did that, and more by getting the result tonight against a very decent competitor for us this season. The psychological benefits of the result, but more so the performance, will be a huge positive step if we follow up with the same on the weekend. Credit where it’s due, we needed the performance and sounds like you prepared and set us up to bring it.

This game was hopefully a bit of a wake up call to all those who had "World-Conquerors" Wrexham down as walking our league before a ball was kicked

Yes they piled on the pressure in the second half, but what do you expect from a Parky team losing at home! For all the so-called quality in their side, they looked very disjointed and devoid of ideas and cohesion for large periods

We had more possession and more shots on target. If it wasn't for that lump Boyle (who also scored the equaliser) winning everything in defence we would've been out of sight. They weren't anything to be afraid of, and long may it continue

I'm not going to single out any players for special praise, as they all had their parts to play throughout the evening

Such a great feeling driving home after such a morale-boosting win, even if the bastard M62 was shut :confounded:

Well done the boys and glad my lad talked me into it:laughing:

Would be the same team that plays in the PJT so no real excitement apart from playing at Anfield

I just want a home match. Going away might be better for the coffers, but what we wouldn’t give for a crammed VP under lights with one of the big boys.

Wrexham bought success last season with mainly average league 2 players and it shows, they are an average side at this level. I actually thought we would win in normal time so the result didn't surprise me. Seems like their bubble could burst if results don't pick up, already grumbling of discontent at the lack of signings and Parkys football. I don't think he'll last the season.

Interesting. I actually didn't think they were a long ball team last night, like he used to set us up, which surprised me as they have quite a few 6ft+ players in their squad

But money talks and as you say he probably won't last long if the fans - and owners in particular - get frustrated

Their whole model seems geared to moving forward. To be fair they stuck with him when they failed in the playoffs two seasons ago but now they are a bigger organisation with bigger pressures from sponsors, fans etc.
I'm not getting too excited, I'm still hoping we bring in a couple more signings before the deadline, hopefully we can build on this bit of momentum now.

As @Jordan@Jordan posted "last season we conceded 50% of our league goals from set pieces, which was the highest in the league" we need to be better at this, I've commented I don't like zonal marking IMO players pick their corresponding opponent up and make sure he doesnt get the header, I accept the majority of teams seem to prefer it but I do like players taking reasonability one on one.
Just imagine a 50% improvement with regards league games would have possibly got us an auto place, but great result and from fellow posters who went not a bad nights entertainment, long may it continue.

I'm pleased to read your thoughts on Osadebe, I've argued his corner a few times in the bars after City games.
He joined us after an impressive second half of season at Walsall, he had a very useful pre-season with us, scored a cracking goal v Sunderland. And for 7minutes looked like a L2 Paul Pogba ( Pogba when he could be bothered) against Doncaster. The bad injury took a lot out of him, including a set-back, I feel he was brought back a little early to try make the difference for a final promotion push. He's started this season a little lethargic ( as rest of team has) and he's still a bit tentative to put his foot in. However once his fitness and confidence in his injury improves, I really believe you'll see a lad with bags of ability.

I'd happily swap the two penalty wins for the two league defeats though!

    Oh poor Wrexham

I'm absolutely fed up with the love-in with Wrexham. They've had their limelight, now sod off

How arrogant of the Daily Star reporter to suggest they missed out on a glamour tie with Man Utd....for all they know, it could be Mansfield!!
