Hughes played him there and Alexander was kinda forced to play him there but signed Wright anyway. Even though he had Ridehalgh, so he had 3 for that position.

The back up LWB, who isnt really a LWB, is back up to a guy who isnt really a LWB.

Im ok with Wright, but he did look shaky last season and Richards has never convinced me, and obviously GA as a suitable LWB. Call me old fashioned but I would like an actual LWB as well.

 

So how did he lose his shirt to an awful Ridehlagh and then Wright?

 

I have no idea. I think he was injured for a while at one time. Like you, Wright hasn't hasn't impressed me either, although I guess he has a turn of pace. As I keep saying, yes we can improve on Richards, although i think Wright is just different as opposed to much better. I still can't recall Richards making any howlers or letting us down.

 

Debating over Richards is pointless. He's fine. If you're happy to stay in L2.

We've become accustomed to players who just aren't very good over the last six years. And he's another of them.

I was at a pre match meal and Richards was speaking before the game. He had been concussed a few weeks earlier but said he was fit enough to play and seemed perplexed that he wasn’t in the squad. Maybe GA just doesn’t rate him.

Sounds like he was still concussed if he said he was not fit enough to play but was perplexed that he wasn't in the squad.

You said we had 2 LWBs so we are ok in that position. Then you go onto say we can improve on Richards and Wright hasnt impressed you.

My point is the same as it was in my first post on the subject. I don't think Richards is as bad as many make out and I wouldn't be unhappy with a fit Richards at LWB. We are not going to league 1 quality players for every position on the pitch. I can't recall him letting us down.
