And you keep correcting me, for which I'm eternally grateful, as I say the details will come out soon if the club decide to go down that route.

Having read most of these posts I think I am a little more enlightened in that there may be different business models of ticket purchase being considered, at least on here.

But I am still really unclear what the product is for each case.

Is it a specific seat you purchase on a month by month basis, and if you stop paying, no problems for you, and the seat becomes available to Joe Bloggs for purchase thereafter via the website/ office? This carries some risk for the club and will only be beneficial to the club if a) the monthly subscription is at a premium over a standard ST net income, AND net income pro rata the price of a ticket purchased prior to the game, or b) the club believes the football is going to be so cr*p it predicts a large proportion of seats will remain unfilled for all home league games whatever, so any sale is better than none, no matter how short lived (I am trying not to get too depressed already).

Or is it pay by month and get any seat not taken by a ST or cash sale that may be available a couple of days prior to the match?

By the way, the analogies of subscriptions for Sky/ Netflix still baffle me. My bafflement relates to the seller either having a fixed number of items to sell (ie - number of seats X two hours X every two weeks in a football season) and demand linked to fan loyalty and on pitch performance, as opposed to a virtual unlimited product by an electric current, TV and a dish/ half-decent broadband width.

My mind is now drifting to the "another brick in the wall" and PF's reference to how many channels of excrement there were to choose from then (and that was in the early eighties!). Not making any comparison to City' season though :grinning::grinning:

It would be a fixed seat. You are buying your seat and you sign an initial contract for a fixed term eg twelve months, this then auto renews until you cancel giving two months notice at which time you ticket would be cancelled and your seat would become available. So the cancellation issue doesn’t really come into the equation this season coming as that wouldn’t be an option till the end of the first season.

Hull are the team that have done this for the longest and do not offer any other way to purchase. They had issues and a lot of push back from fans when they introduced it about 5/6 years ago but that was because they also brought in differential pricing at same time so people that had sat in seats all their life were suddenly priced out as they brought in some posh seats. The differential pricing has since gone and people are now used to it

Are you saying you wouldn’t be happy to pay the % extra for monthly membership but would still expect the rewards that comes with that membership?

What are the rewards of the monthly membership, I'm saying if I'm allowed to pay up front as we do now I would expect the same rewards as someone who pays monthly, wouldnt you, the club have my money before a ball is kicked.

No I don’t think they should if the club bring a subscription scheme in with those incentives. If the club says join the subscription scheme and you will benefit from these incentives then it will be the fans choice whether to join or not and receive them

Why should anyone who pays up front not recievd the same rewards as someone paying 10 instalments ?.
Now if the club are taking that option away as I believe Hull have then I'll be annoyed but there is little I can do, I will have to take the instalments option as I won't stop watching my club, why can't the club offer both.

No. If you’re buying nothing but a season ticket (as you do today) and someone else is buying a membership, that comes with benefits in doing so, why would you as a non-subscriber, expect to get those same benefits?

So I pay £199 for my ticket in a one off payment as we do now, whilst those paying in installments pay £199 over 10 months, I don't see why I should be penalised because I pay differently.

You’d get ‘penalised’ because you’re buying a different product with different Ts&Cs. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather pay in a lump sum too, but mine would be out of my student finance

Listening to Ryan's latest interview and the debate today was the first time I felt he as CEO was not putting fans first, I don't understand why the club would prefer the price of a season ticket to be purchased over a period of time rather than as we have done in the past money up front.
I accept 12/14,000 paying instalments would be the same as 12/14,00 paying up front with regards budgeting but to then give discounts on merchandise etc doesn't make sense.
12/14,000 paying up front get no discounts but 12/14,000 paying installments get a discount who's standing the discounted merchandise?.
As I've posted when the details are made public it will make more sense I'm sure.

Didn’t I read there is some tax loophole by paying for membership/subscription as opposed to buying Season Tickets?

That may be why they prefer us to use and why they can offer discounts

I wouldn't know, if that is the case and it's making the club more money I can't see a problem, I wasn't aware other clubs ran a subscription service to purchase season tickets you learn something new every day..

Exactly, today I've learned that HSBC are becoming a right pain the arse with new mortgage applications and have a massive backlog in processing them.

There may be tax advantages in a subscription model and even some savings on VAT depending how it is modeled
