I quite agree and open to both options and compliment the club, for covering different bases.

Just my consideration on the potential. Naturally, I'll fully consider when details are released.

The monthly subscription approach seems to be a mostly Danish thing so far, but I get the impression lots of clubs are looking at it.

I think the idea is all year round income on a subscription basis I suppose it will include extras which you can opt in or out of such as if it comes off the iFollow coverage

It works well in some areas like gyms and TV subscriptions when it continues month in month out until the subscriber pulls the plug. I can imagine it working equally well for season tickets when there is no need for an upfront cost and most importantlyfrom the club's viewpoint, the monthly subscription continues in perpetuity until cancelled.

It's quite different from the current 'financing' option where some kind of financial institution essentially loans the money to the fan and the fan pays it off over a fixed period, usually less than 12 months. The subscription model has the big advantage to the club of fan inertia. The monthly subscription has to be cancelled if it isn't to continue and the fan gets locked in rather than having to make a decision each season on whether to buy another ST.

It doesn't surprise me that other clubs are also looking into this idea.

My above post was taking an all year round situation, Ryan said the season tickets were going up so lets say £200 for adults and pro rata for kids that could be £60 a month for a family of 4 over 12 months that's without iFollow, and if we are back to something like normal friends and family will meet at one house to watch a game, I can't see anything like the revenue ifollow generated for the club last season being the same next season if the EFL allow iFollow.

Kinda like a membership scheme rather than being a ticket holder. The gym analogy is spot on. I think either run a similar system or were looking at one.

As an example your gym membership, you pay as you go and you don't fancy going for a couple of months you save your monthly subscription, not sure how a football club could budget going forward with fans not paying their monthly subscriptions if the product on the field gets as dire as last season I cant see many advantages.
Lets say 14,000 season tickets are sold it's a guaranteed income at the start of a season, then to go down to 10,000 and less attending games if it's poor entertainment, a drop of 4,000 paying subscribers.

Yes that is the other side of the argument, but if we are doing as well as the above that doesn't stop the fair weather fan paying on the gate does it ?.

Memberships generally are the opposite of pay as you go. My gym membership comes out each month regardless of how much I use it.

So are you saying once committed to the monthly payments you can't take a couple of months out, you have to still subscribe, not sure there would be many taker under that system.

The trick will be getting people who are used to the traditional way of paying switching to this. The other thing as I think @Bronco@Bronco was alluding to it’s the expense of taking your family which they could get round by saying say 1 child free with every subscription. Either way success on the field will determine take up

It's just the same as buying a season ticket, if the football is poor you don't go and ask for your money back. Look at as a different way of buying a season ticket.

I agree its a just a different way of doing it. Like you allude to possibly a more flexible way of doing things like adding family memberships and offering various benefits of a membership scheme.

Our gym does a system where you pay £100 a month on fixed contract, you can’t cancel for 12 months or £120 a month and you can cancel with one month’s notice.
If you want add golf to that it’s something like an extra £50 for the one course, a bit more for the fancy two and if you don’t want to use the pool it’s £25 a month off.
Those aren’t the right numbers but you get the drift. Pay more for flexibility, less for fewer benefits

Maybe you sign up for a minimum of say 12 months and can add various options to the season ticket like adding suite membership, or a shirt etc or player days

That would be a nightmare for cashflow of the business. Really wouldn't work in football. Our system will have to be you sign up to pay £x and that's what you pay. You stop paying, you've defaulted on it and get action taken against you, that would usually mean a CCJ. Like paying your Council Tax.

Can tell @Bronco@Bronco has never had a gym membership. Most gyms have hundreds of people per site paying that never go because they don’t cancel, even after the tied in period has finished. Netflix is the same

Yes I get whats its all about but can't see why they would want to move away from money up front, as you say sign up for 12 x £x a month so each month the club would have finance coming in were as the finance is in before the season starts and they could budget, if we are having a good season then fans pay at the gate.
We'll have to wait until the club puts more information out, I wont be changing to monthly, we had to do that years ago with Provident and Grattan but those days are long gone.
