Dead on he is a great option for a squad player. Trouble is we don’t know what to expect from young. And we need another forward for competition for Cook

 

Young will get goals Park we know that..... if he stays

His brief cameos , very brief, he looked a different player than the one that left us even though he was still carrying his Dec injury. So a fit Young over Smith any day for me Park.

 

Smith as 4th/5th choice striker is perfectly fine and there won't be many better options about who will rarely get a game, personally I don't count Kav as a striker as he's more a Robbie Blake type buzzing about Cook in behind and running in behind. So proper strikers that leaves Cook, Young and Smith assuming we can get shut of Oliver. Then one more to come in who can challenge Cook ideally or two if we sell Young. No point getting rid of Smith just to bring in another cheap untried option who will probably get less goals than him.

Calm down. you aren't Mr T. It's going to be a poorer standard league next year and your post clearly said that the current squad with a few tweaks won't finish above mid way. We finished a point off the play offs, so with tweaks and a worse league you are clearly wrong. It's ok to be wrong. Embrace it; learn from it; don't get all narky

 

Indeed, so the definition of well run, is be prepared to make large losses and invest lots of money. It's difficult to compete against that ideology

 

With a Killgallon type player

 

Stubbs would be my first choice CB Serg. I think he's the best in the squad when fit and he's a good leader and organiser. If we put two mobile centre halves alongside him the lack of pace becomes even less of an issue as he won't be exposed.

Platt would be kept to compete for the central role and Kelly completes the 5 centre halves (with the 2 new signings) with the rest being released.

 

He's 22 in a few months and is yet to make an appearance for an EFL club, let alone making starts in the PL.

I don't see that they value him particularly highly and can't see this as anything other than a promotional signing otherwise he'd certainly have been offered more than 12 months when he'd finished his loan with them.
