I think Hughes et al are trying to build a squad of players who they think are skilful enough, and capable of being more intelligent in their game than we are used to, being able to adapt and change formations together in response to how the game progresses, and the rotating of the forwards. The early recruitment allows an element of cherry picking from a pool of players that one way or another show promise and potentially capable of this, without breaking the bank, and also time to begin work on what is required with the team.

It also shows that Hughes et al have confidence in themselves and a footballing model that just might work in L2. I do think however that it may take a while into the season before it starts to pay significant dividends.

Anyway, feels really good to feel good about City at the moment, and at least the team has positive options for the field and from the bench at the same time! Which has not been the case for quite a while.

Critchlow and Odusina will be our go to pairing imho.

The only thing that worries me is that we are bringing in players that are good with the ball at their feet and can pass it around, but what about when the pitches are heavy in mud during winter are we going to have the players who can dig deep and get the ugly wins.

Both left sided, I think it will be one of the pair with Songo'o/Platt.

We look a bit bigger this season with Platt, Odusina and Critchlow.
Oliver is dominant in the air too.
Looks like we've got a squad which can do a bit of everything.
    Can't see us getting bullied.

A bit more pace too with Chapman, Eisa & the lad from FGR.

Fair point , but Songo’o…not for me, especially if we play a high press. We got caught far too many times last season albeit with different personalities, however Songo’o was one of them.

Back to transfers, rather than betting odds in this thread.... FIFA have changed their rules regarding loans from this season.

As of right now, clubs are only allowed to be involved in a maximum of 8 loans which includes loan players coming in or out. We only have 2 at the moment, and we still have the same rules for matchdays squads only allowing 5 loanees. I don't think this will effect us this season, as our squad already looks pretty bloated, but in the coming years, only allowing 6 loans either in or out will effect teams at the lower levels. If this season we took 5 loans in, we could then only send out 3 of our lads, FCD/Staunton/Wood or any first teamers we cant sell but might loan out due to high wages that both sides can share, we might be struggling.

It's there to stop teaming like Chelsea loaning out 30+ players a season, but i really feel for EFL teams in a few seasons. Going to have to have a lot more trust between EFL teams academy players to fill out squads than ever before. Going to give clubs in the PL/CH a lot less time to judge a 19/20 year old if they cant send them on one or two loans until they mature, probably see a load of early 20s from big clubs get released in a year or twos time under the new rules.

I don’t mind that, clubs should rely on their own players more, as long as everyone has to play by the same rules it’s fair. What Chelsea do is just ridiculous, if it even fractionally reduces the amount of hoarding PL clubs do then it’s a great idea.

9 year old. I suggest you dream of an older age. Might get you into trouble that mindset.

I think you're slightly mistaken. The new FIFA regs only apply to those loans requiring FIFA approval which is fundamentally international loans. Chelsea might well be impacted but only when they're doing deals with Barca or Juventus or Celtic. The new regs don't impact yet on purely domestic loans. I doubt it will impact on us!

The PL and EFL now have several years (until 2025 I think) to bring their own regs in line with FIFA's.

My view as well Bronco. Apart from the Dolly, North Parade and Mama Mia's I seldom venture into the city centre other than to get a train somewhere, and even then I prefer to use Shipley or Apperley Bridge stations when it's practical. Sunbridge Wells is okay but you have weave your way past all the dropouts of society to get there, unless you use the entrance behind the Turls Green.
It's so disappointing when I think back to the early seventies when I started dating my late wife Carol. When it came to impressing a girl on the first date there were lots of options. Several decent pubs and bars in and around town, a very good selection of restaurants catering for whatever you wanted, and a good choice of nightclubs to finish off the night, full of people who were generally out to have a good time, not drugged up and looking for trouble. Happy days.
Having said that I'm not sure I would have the energy for all that these days.

Got to be honest , its a shame that so many , i presume Grown Men , feel the need to fill their time with the constant bickering . I live in South Wales, and for sure take on board what people say after every match , good or bad. The past six weeks comings and goings can only be more of a positive , than negative leading up to the new season , and I for one , the same as most on here , want the best for the club. I'm quietly optomistic regarding the coming next couple of months , so lets all agree to disagree and get behind this great club , cos i for sure will be . Onwards and upwards

Just come back from Laugharne. Shocking weather, beautiful beaches and countryside. I’m quite stunned by the BCAFC signings this summer, dare I be optimistic?

sad thing is a few on here are dying for it to go wrong so they can say they told you so ......... imagine if we all turned up every game and actually got behind the lads for 90 minutes despite what’s going off .......... creating an attmosphere that scared the life out of the oppo team .............. nahhhhh we all know the tactics of the majority of away teams next season “ keep it tight for 20 minutes and watch them turn on the players “ it’s sad but true :(

Like i said i'm living 230 miles away , so i'll keep up to track on match days via social media etc . I dont get either all the hype regarding Stockport . No league is an easy job to get out of , but as posted yesterday , i dont see any team so far , with a squad that will match ours . Perhaps i'm no expert , but we'll see
