It’s a cruel world where players on short deals rule the roost. I hate it but that’s how it is.

 

If we can get anything over £750k I would take it. He is a decent striker but I don’t think he’s irreplaceable. I’d say Wells was a much more effective and harder to replace striker than Wyke. Plus he only has 1 year left on his contract and we’d be making a 200% profit. Good business to me.

The thing is, when we bought Wyke we were a club on the rise and so he WANTED to come to Bradford. Now we are a club that are probably not at the top of players lists as a promotion push next season is highly unlikely. In fact, we could end up at the opposite end of the table.

So if we sell Wyke we can't expect to get a player of his calibre (or the calibre he was at 18 months ago) for £250k. We'll have to pay a lot more to tempt anyone similar to come to a club possibly on the decline.

Yes, I recall Wells leaving.... it was with different owners... different player... different ‘saga’... so not necessarily the same outcome.

Lawn/Rhodes ‘pimped’ Wells out and were in the media almost daily saying Wells would likely be leaving. They also constantly mentioned the need to pay off the deficit with a cup run or selling a player. Not sure that’s the same this time.

I really hope we are not considering £500k. I know very little about Mo Eisa, but we have a striker who when on form, has scored goals at a higher level and is still young. IMO in today’s market Charlie is worth +£750k at least. I’d be very disappointed if we were to take less unless he wants out.

 

what higher level has wyke scored goals at ?

 

League1 as opposed to Eisa who hasn't played at this level.

Regardless, Charlie is definitely worth more than £500k in today’s market and it would seem a crazy decision to sell at that price to a competitor in the same division.

If he wants away, then unfortunately not much can be done and the hand is forced. However id like to think that’s not the case.

 

Fully agree with your point other than £750k might be a big ask, but not impossible taking add ons into account.
