Eh you don't start I sit just in front of you remember ;), but your correct I tried the pay as you go but it was too much like hard work, £100/month @Mike Hunt@Mike Hunt is well out of my league.

I won't either. Pay it all pay it once ! If it is "financed" though they will get commission from the finance company they use, paid out of the interest they will no doubt charge. It's highly likely to cost more to the consumer spreading the cost even if its only £20 more.

If the club goes for a monthly subscription ST option it will be a lock in for the 12 months, managed by a finance company who will be rewarded by the subscriber's extra premium per month, and who will be more than willing to chase arrears with the small print add ons through the usual legal channels.

I am sure it won’t be implemented in full at first how it goes will depend on how attractive the idea is. But at least it’s fresh ideas

Lots of people spread the cost over a monthly period, the wife got a new road bike, just over a grand. Paid it over over 26 months if i remember on an interest free credit card. Just over £40 a month. i wouldn't say many would need to take up a monthly offer on our tickets as they pretty much given away but if you are buying say 3 or 4 tickets its a good option to have.

That's what happened when they had the option to buy a season ticket over x amount of months but this is completely different and is not a season ticket as such but a subscription which continues indefinitely until you unsubscribe.

If you are referring to a pay as you go system, similar to gym membership with extra premiums for no tie in, I will need to be clearer about what the proposal is for the product before being convinced. If it is a seat to watch City at every home game whilst paying a monthly subscription, I predict challenges that are likely to prove too difficult to overcome to make worthwhile for the club. Will be interested on how other football league clubs have implemented similar or plan to.

But surely having 12/14,000 pre-paid season tickets before the start of the season is better than monies every month, and who in the right mind would pay a % on that way of paying for it, before I believe its been done through a finance company I doubt they will be doing it for free.
Your example above makes sense with regards your lass buying a bike as you say on credit card with no interest as long as the payments are kept up to, will City be offering 0% on the deal, there must be more involved so maybe until they make the announcement I shouldn't pre judge, but I'll be paying up front before the start of the new season.

I pay up front but thats because the tickets are cheap and I'm old fashioned. I'm guessing what Sparks is thinking that if he puts the price up a little but then offers a payment spread option then it helps offset that cost. Let's face it, a lot of people might buy multiple tickets which adds up to a fair amount. And most people budget their accounts monthly so £45 a month over 10 months as opposed to £450 might suit a few people. I can see it being an option used by fans whose tickets are way more expensive than ours to be fair.

I wouldn't worry yourself about it, you will still have the option to purchase a season ticket as normal for next season.

People seem to be getting them self confused between the nEw subscription idea and the finance option that was previously available. With the subscription model the cost is divided by 12, usually with the last payment for a season being the month before end of the season. If you miss a payment then your entry is stopped. It isn’t usually compulsory so if you want to pay up front you can but it is an idea to attract EXTRA bums on seats. So the idea isn’t that it is 12,000 people pay up front or 12,000 spread it across the year but in total more the 12,000 would buy either up front or spread over the year

You could even adopt the Lincoln model (Imps Rewards) which gives things like 10% discount on Apple products, up to 5% off at Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury’s/Morrisons, 27% off at EE

I think the club still gets the money up front if its done through a finance company.

Not sure how a 'subscription' model would work.
It would certainly require an automated entry system, otherwise some people would abuse it by cancelling subscriptions once they have their season ticket.
I remember a few seasons back the clubs tried direct debits, posting out match tickets on a month by month basis.

They would. The finance company would be the ones risking any loss through cancellations which is why anyone stopping payments would be likely to end up with a CCJ. The type of companies that do these (what are called "off trade premises/ instant credit") agreements tend to be relatively high interest rates as the risk is all with them. If it's a finance package agreement expect something in the region of 10% plus interest rates and it to be someone like New Day.

The bonus to BCFC is that not only do they get the money upfront, the finance company usually pay commission for the business being introduced.

The subscription model is not a finance deal

Hull do a subscription/membership scheme instead of season tickets, they do not offer the option of paying in one go.

    https://www.hullcitytigers.com/tickets/ticketing-faq/

Fleetwood do a auto renewal 9 monthly payment, auto renewal annual payment or a manual renewal

When Hull first introduced the membership scheme it was looked at by them to try and reduce their tax bill as tax is not applied in the same way to a membership as it is to a ticket, same reason why 25y season ticket holders pay for the suite membership and get the season ticket free, but HMRC would not recognise it as a true membership but they still ran with the scheme.

The best way to think about the subscription, for those that don't use Netflix, Prime, NOW TV etc., is to think of it like your internet or mobile phone plan. You pay every month and get a service in return (entry to VP in this case). This makes budgeting much easier as there is regular cash flow. Pros and cons of course but one pro (and con) would be if we have a good start to the season then people who hadn't subscribed could join in part way through.

The pay as you go option would still remain, as it always has in football, which is buying a ticket on a match by match basis.

However, I suspect if the subscription is £20 per month for 10 months (council tax is over 10 months as an example) but an individual match ticket is £25, then why wouldn't you take out the subscription/membership option for one month?

Members may get other perks like cheaper cup tickets, discounted iFollow if it's still around, etc.

I'm willing to give it a go but there'll be lots of iterations to it as we go along no doubt.

Would those discounts be available to fans who prefer to pay in one payment, if it doesn't then that is penalising the likes of myself and I would think many others.
