Rayner has a little collection of 'go to' lines that you just know are gonna come out.

We get a Billy Clarke "honouring his defensive duties" every game, but yesterday we had it 3 times in 10 minutes.

 

Loves a pass to his “compatriot” too. Why doesn’t he say that about the English guys?

 

Way more than occasionally here....it's dove...I've never heard anyone here say dived unless they are 10 to 12 pints deep

 

Welcome back Buccs, Superbowl next week then? Got to hand hand it to old man Brady.

 

Jamie Raynor sounds decent, compared to AK (who is dire) but he's really not very good either. Good interviewer, but no great shakes as a commentator. The Cambridge and Southend guys really showed our pair up, big time - better researched, more insightful, balanced commentary and analysis.
Small mercies - someone seems to have had a word and explained to JR that 'header' is a noun, not a verb.

 

The commentary in those two games was noticeably better than anything I've listened to in a city game for years. Knew when to speak and no waffle, unbiased and was exactly the same game I was watching.

 

Drives me nuts! I didn't notice him saying that during the Barrow game so maybe someone has explained it to him.

 

It could be worse, you could have the Pulse back and everything would be the refs fault, imagine their fury over Barrows pen even though it was one. Then you’d have Ormondroyd laughing every time we scored.

 

TBH I preferred the Pulse. AK does my nut in.

 

He's dropped 'chance to spread his legs' and 'chip ball' a little.

 

Still the North South divide then Steve .

It was also a bit lifeless, let's be honest.

I listened to the Southend commentary (and watched) and made the same notes - clear, accurate, no nonsense.

But also dispassionate and a bit dull for me.

It was such a refreshing change from JR and AK though that I had no complaints at the time - but I wouldn't necessarily want that week in, week out either.
