Yeah, first half about 20 mins in I said to me old man that we'll see what he's made of today cos nothing was going for him at all. Even really basic basic stuff. But he rolled his sleeves up and didn't hide and ended up having a solid game which was pleasing to see. His attacking play needs a bit of improvement but he coped well enough with a strong forward line, as did the others in our defence. As much as I would say Hosannah is the better player, he isn't ours so C-D has put himself in the mix to be first choice.

 

Wonder if he’d wanna coach the academy if a vacancy popped up there shortly!

In all seriousness, the youth team seems to churn out defenders and defensive midfielders ad nauseum - Clayton seems professional on the pitch and has a boatload of experience. If he decided to be a serious coach, I could think of worse moves.

 

Not sure if he has gained any coaching licences but he has some great experience from a fantastic FL career.

I think Billy Clarke helps out with one of the youth teams doesn’t he? He certainly seems interested in it. We need him on pitch for now though.

 

I didn't know that about Billy Clarke but it doesn't surprise me at all. Definitely one I would expect to get involved in coaching.

I think the fact that you haven't seen much of him tells you quite a lot. Maybe unfair to judge on a couple of late subs and Mickey Mouse cup appearances, but I've never thought to myself 'that lad has got something about him' on the few occasions I have seen him play.

But they still put him in the team. Your argument falls down slightly based on yesterday's starting line up so you had to introduce squad rotation

 

Tom Clarke is better and younger.

 

And 38 years old, an old experience pro should be quite capable of playing at league two level.

 

I'm not sure you're right there because he was with us before the salary cap came in so I think he's on the 'average salary cap wage amount' of 1,200 or 1,300 or whatever it is and not his full wage/salary.
