To be fair, I think the lack of wash basins in the away end at Stevenage are the least of our worries right now.

The thread topic was when will it end and infection rates and testing were the main topic on here through lockdown in determining when football might restart. This thread has been most watched for months as we posted about infection rates and potential restarts before it was overtaken by posts about getting fans back in VP which has another thread. Lockdown won't end with new case numbers like this so I imagine the football restart in Bradford is in doubt with or without crowds. It does not look like ending soon unless these numbers get better.

If I've made no mistake, Bradford's Pillar 1+2 new case numbers combined since available from 3rd of July is:
    32,28,14,31,39,26,22,30,27,21,29,36,38,33,32,27,27,33,35,50,30,23,39,38,41,44,46,57,31

    From August 1st
    20,60,24,41,47,54.16,73,29, no data, 105(2 days)

    https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/locations-352-new-coronavirus-cases-18760333

HOWEVER - It might end earlier because Covid deaths have just been reduced by 12% at a stroke by taking out a stupid distortion and implementing a 4-week limit for a recorded Covid death from date if positive test (though still not right). A few take a bit longer than 4 weeks from a positive test to die so I'd assume a touch higher. More importantly though, it means recent days' REPORTED deaths (i.e. not by date of death) have been massively overstated by about 300% - so maybe 15 per day and falling in July, rather than 60. But I've already said how deaths in English hospitals are now only 5 per day. Why is this crucial? Because it means recent lower death rates (on the increasing infection numbers discovered by increasing testing) have fallen to flu-like levels, so the end could be nearer than we think.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53722711

"The new methodology for counting deaths means the total number of people in the UK who have died from Covid-19 comes down from 46,706 to 41,329 - a reduction of 12%.

And figures for deaths in England for the most recent week of data - 18 to 24 July - will drop by 75%, from 442 to 111."

Got to agree with How on this, I have no idea about the reliability of the figures @Aleman@Aleman is presenting but i really like the idea that he is getting this info and putting on here for our consideration.
Big question though, will I be quarantined if I come over in October? ;)

Fixtures out next week and still no sign about season ticket info from the club.

    No FA Cup replays.

4 rounds of the league cup in September. Efl trophy starts too early on. If we are serious we need most of our bodies in soon to let them gel

Two interesting bits of news today. Firstly that only 6% of England have antibodies which is lower than I would have expected but i suppose it's almost 3.5m people in reality.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/13/up-to-6-of-englands-population-may-have-had-covid-study-suggests

Secondly that New Zealand have shut down the whole city of Auckland because of one family passing the virus on locally. That can't be a proportional or effective long term response. The issue for the UK is that while New Zealand is held up as the "gold standard" there is effectively a push for them to undertake such draconian measures. I bloody hope not!

I mentioned on another thread that I work for the NHS. The latest is that mass population testing is coming and this is planned for October.
The plan being that there should be the capacity to test everyone, every week. Literally testing in train stations, supermarkets, street corners, with a test to result turnaround of 90 mins.

Then everyone will have a test “passport“ showing all your results. This “passport” will then be used to prove you are negative and allow access to pubs, cinemas, football grounds etc.
Your last test will have to be no more than ‘x’ days old, hence the need for regular mass testing.

These systems and test capacity is being ramped up big time but it will a couple of months away yet. There are literally thousands of people working on this.

Sadly at a guess, a significant number will not cooperate and/or avoid testing. If New Zealand is anything to go by, then it just needs one family and the whole thing starts again.

I said the other week that this would happen...It's simple for me if a match is on a Saturday then to be allowed in then you have to get tested on the Thursday or the same day but show you results. It's done in the boxing currently.

In leeds mobile testing units have been set up. However, the issue is now that the government has to get people back into office...It has too and to do that mass testing isn't going to work.

I just don't see how we will go to the capacity levels you say and will still go to the supermarket.

Crowds are going to be allowed at the Snooker World Championship finals this weekend.

It will be interesting to see how they work it, especially with it being indoors.

Earlier this week, McCall mentioned the possibility of a friendly tomorrow. Not heard anything else, I wonder if this has been confirmed and who they will be playing?

I wonder if somewhere in the near future we'll have to pay for our own testing?

I rarely go to the supermarket these days, relying on ‘Click and Collect’, but having family who are unable to shop for themselves, I call into a Morrison’s once every three weeks.sadly there are still people who go there, who ignore the face covering ‘guidance’.
Unless the rules are tightened, it becomes compulsory to wear face coverings and shops refuse to serve customers who flout the expectations, then transmission in these places will occur.
I am not sure if the pass @BL_@BL_ could be extended to shops, but in reality that is the only option to seriously crackdown on the spread of infection. You would have to have a scanned ‘passport’ otherwise you could not make a purchase?
Sounds very hard, but the potential to transmit a disease which can at the extreme end, kill people, needs to be treated very seriously.

The problem with @BL_@BL_ is saying is what do you with the tests. The track and trace isn't good enough and are people really quarantine for 14 days of what ever it is.

The supermarkets have made a mug out of Borris. They played him. As soon as they could they basically got rid of the social distancing and most not enforcing the mask rule. The government has to put a law in saying that shops have to enforce the mask rule or they will be fined.

The biggest thing though what is the government end goal here? If its to get no cases that isn't going to happen.

That's obviously not the target. I doubt it's even possible in the UK and looking at the New Zealand reaction I'm almost glad.

The target must be to just keep a lid on the infections without becoming a police state.

It started off as protect the NHS which is fine.

Keeping a lid on Infections isnt going to work with how we are doing things.
