He can play it comfortable enough based on. Saturday I feel. I think the problem was he didn’t have the confidence to push over half way line with the ball. Either from his instruction s or lack of confidence.

I’d like to see Longridge a go but I don’t think he’s up to speed yet. Missed some pre season and Henley has done nothing wrong really to warrant dropping. Give him someone to play it to in front and he will be fine. Looks solid

 

Seemed from my view that he looked naturally right footed, he passed everything with his right foot. This made him reluctant to attack down the line on his left foot. Its why Gibson isn’t really a left winger, all right foot.

I don't rate those wingers as particularly effective, Scannell aside (but a lot to prove), and wouldn't rush to fit McCartan in as a winger.

At the moment, it's 4 3 3 for me, though Shay replacing Doyle allows us to stick with the diamond and doesn't disrupt the team.

I just don't agree we should be playing wingers, two games in and the unfamiliarity of not relying on wingers has got to a few, but I reckon stick it out for now.

 

How accurate is that site though? And what do they class as left wing? I wouldn’t have him as a left wing as such. More out there but supporting Vaughan too

Its far too early to form any judgement on this season as yet however bear in mind the 10 game mark you speak of is a quarter of the way through the season and we would have to work twice as hard to make up any ground on the leaders Its obvious as yet we are not the finished article maybe a few more signings and a tactical re think is called for lets hope plans are afoot

IF plans are not in place for a couple more additions, then we have every right to worry.
Gaining momentum is one thing, but 'catching up' is much harder.
Give me 15 points now, after 10 games, and I'll (almost) be pleased with that return, providing things are looking up.

I suspect that Bowyer doesn't see it like that at all.
Just like Parky and many other managers before them, I think his mentality is to get the defence sorted out first, keep things as tight as possible and prioritise not leaking goals, particularly after last year's defensive shambles.
He's said several times that he thinks it will take two or three transfer windows to get the squad how he wants it. I think he's happy to pack bodies into central midfield to protect the defence, at the expense of width and creativity and hope to nick 1-0 wins whenever possible, until he can get better players in.

As fans we want to see exciting attacking play, wingers bombing on and getting regular crosses in, and goals galore. We also want to see immediate promotion back to L1. I'm not sure that Bowyer sees it that way at all. I suspect he's playing a longer game, rightly or wrongly.

 

What’s with all this 4-3-3 talk? We haven’t played it once yet this season. It’s a 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2 diamond. Doyle has hardly been close to front two

For me on Saturday it’s clear O’Donnell is showing the positives of having a dedicated goalie coach and also some real competition for his place.

Another player, just like Doyle, who would be binned off by some if they had their way. Fact is that good players don’t become bad just by signing for City. Play them in their correct positions, support them and they will do well for us.

I still can’t believe some are championing McCartan for scoring a handful of goals in L2, but in the same breath want to oust Doyle who scored more in a struggling side, a league higher.
