I agree with the majority of this, but how do you know what efforts have been taken to offload players? What else do you want Bowyer to do? Pay them off altogether and have no budget left to replace them anyway?

Because its the first game of the season with a group made up of some new players who will take time to develop into a team.

I don't get the small club mentality point.

The whole idea of embarking on another management merry go round is the same idiocy of the lunatic we've just got rid of some people are more like Edin than they think.

We haven't got a blow everyone out of the water budget and we're still lumbered with some of the underperformers from last season so this season isn't going to be easy.

I'm sure there are other managers who would want the job but my guess is not many if any at all would meet some fans expectations.

Yesterday was a mixed bag some good points some not great and yes the final 30 minutes were excruciatingly frustrating. But that doesn't mean you have to chuck the manager and players under the bus.

Forget the 22 attempts at goal, its always a misleading stat. Fact is we rarely troubled their keeper and by the end we were very easy to defend against even with an extra man.

Bowyer doesn't need an excuse for not assembling the best side ever, because half the players we have were contracted by an idiot on long term deals.

Like the club said, it will be three years before Rahic's damage is fully undone.

You can’t judge Bowyer for 18 months, as it may take that long to get his own squad. Blame the deadwood cowards of last season, not GB.

How many new players has Bowyer signed this summer? Can't be arsed checking but I'm guessing somewhere between 10-13, with a couple more coming in. If you can't judge on the back of that and don't want to account for the calibre of players he's been allowed to sign either (and keep for that matter) then most managers in the football league must be entitled to a free pass.

This is it. I am 56 with (fortunately) other interests, l made a decision to prioritise those other basement footie, l have zero regrets, I've seen far too much of it already.

We were big, physical and fitter than Cambridge but still couldn't "create" two decent openings in 90+ minutes. I am sure we'll do well but we should be demanding so much more than demanding a 4th division promotion push.

It seems some were happy with a draw yesterday although i suspect these same people were still dreaming of league 1 football last season when we were rock bottom. Make no bones about it yesterday was 2 points dropped and personally i expect a far better performance at Grimsby.

Can't disagree for we were never attacked with purpose and actually pulled out of position. I also thought how slow some of our defenders look on the few occasions they had to get back.

Yes, you’re right. He’s brought in 10 new players and re-signed 3 out of contract players, so 13 in total.

And despite that, he still started 5 players from Rahic/Abbott/Hopkin era, 1 that he had re-signed and only 5 of his own signings.

Don't agree with any of those. Cambridge were not small and certainly not shrinking violets. In fact they need to accept; if you give it, you have to take it. In the fitness department, they worked their socks off but we didn't have the pace or nous to get beyond them.

I knew it was atleast 10 but couldnt remember if he included Devine, Anderson, Colville. He really should have done given that he signed them out of will and had other alternatives available.

Bowyer kept talking about needing a few transfer windows to stamp his authority, most of the squad not being his etc but clearly overplayed the issue given that he actually rates a lot of last seasons squad and even over his own signings to a large degree.

He prefers O'Donnell to his own man Hornby, Mellor over Henley, talked about wanting to keep Scannell at the end of last season, signed up 3 of last seasons out of contract Centre Mids, is a huge Jermaine Anderson fan, and has sung Doyle's praises. I make that 17 players in total that he's either signed himself or was happy with anyway. When you account for the players we're still due to bring in it's going to rise to about 20, and that's excluding the likes of AOC and Mcarten who he may well rate as reserves.

There are no excuses. He's evidently happy with the squad at his disposal and said so himself before the season started.

What his comments do is give him a bit of leeway. If we fail to do anything of note this season the excuses will come thick and fast "oh but Bowyer said he needed this much time, let's be patient."

It's all bullshit. It's not like he's trying to establish us in the Championship on a shoestring.

How much do people over react after 1 game of the season? It's ridiculous. Were you there against Liverpool, when we gave a good account of ourselves? Were you there at Rochdale when we were the best team for that 45 minutes?

We should have won Saturday no ways about it but we didn't. Yes, maybe tactics and some personnel wrong but I saw the Rochdale game and thought if we play the 3 upfront then we should create enough to win games at home. It didn't work out Saturday.

It's a long season and 1 game won't define our entire season. Many teams have lost the first few games and gone up - just think about when we went up from L2 last time - 8 games to go after losing to Exeter and no hope but we still got in the play-offs and promotion.

Some people get a grip ffs!!

A good Manager has a sound game plan, and starts the game with a plan 'B' already in mind.
Plan 'B' comes into force when it's clear plan 'A' is failing, more than succeeding - Be that 30, 45, 60 minutes.

I agree about the 'attempts on goal' ......... One of 'em ended up as a throw in to Cambridge !

Baffling post. It’s been well documented we can’t move those players on in pre season so are stuck with them.

He’s hardly gonna start slating them in pre season is he?

They are here. He hasn’t had much choice but to pick them

Not so much over reacting @QCFC BANTAM@QCFC BANTAM .......
More a case of disappointment and frustration. This is particularly clear when you consider that most of the criticisms are views shared by the majority.

    a) A very puzzling team selection
    b) An even more questionable formation (which just didn't work)
    c) Fat too late in the game before changes were made
    d) The first game of the campaign, and the 'sick bay' was already over flowing prior to KO !!
