It may be nice if he stayed but he is on a very large wage and I suspect the club would like to get him off the books and replace him with a young loan player with some pace about him, GB likes a big physical player up front who he has yet to sign further making Doyle surplus as far as balancing the budget

Id prefer Doyle to stay, but yeh, fair point - he is a top earner and if Blackpool or Swindon are willing to pay a fee for him then it makes sense financially to let him go.

 

One thing that has been apparent from the new transfers is how most of them know Bowyer to varying degrees and how they all speak well of the respect they have for him. Players who want to play for the manager will give everything for the shirt. Its whats impressed me about Bowyer and this pre season, the players actually want to be here.

 

I actually think you’re right. It was suggested (reasonably) that Vaughan’s agent may have used us to get him a better deal at Tranmere - maybe it was the other was around...? I’d imagine that the length of the deal was key, given his age. No doubt it includes clauses/bonuses for promotion and probably wage increase if we go up too, which is fair enough.

Also, and just to be clear, because a number of people have thrown some kudos my way, the ‘ITK’ stuff I’ve dropped on here really is a collective thing from a group of well informed luminaries at a website not too far from here.... don’t want to pass this off as my own work.

James Collins would a humdinger of a signing if something that did come off. Him and P O'Connor at the back, might as well give us the league 2 trophy now.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Doyle has previous of a poor first season and then a great second. In anycase, whether it is all 3 or 2 out of the 3 this looks like a statement of intent and other teams will be taking notice.

 

I believe the word he uses is "schooled" .
