Looks like letting certain people leave has been the biggest disaster of this transfer window. Its no coincidence that since kai bruenker departed we have failed to score and the dressing room morale seems to have fallen 50%. Edin knew football

Too right. Having Kai on the bench was the morale boost the players needed. Seeing him warming up in front of the Sunwin Stand spurred them onto greatness.

 

I hope Hopkin is looking at a tough midfielder who is a leader, we were sadly lacking that yesterday. O’Connor is not a captain. Jimbo was, but he has gone now. It should be as much a feature as their skill level. We gave up after they scored yesterday, think Gary Jones type, that never gives up.

 

Yep. Maybe it was naive of us to think Akpan had turned the corner and could be relied upon every week.

O’Brien would have been worth a longer contract. :-(

 

Akpan's probably another who's on a decent wage. For such a big lad he tiptoes through the game.

 

Said it at the time I thought losing JOB was a huge mistake, from the moment he came in he looked streets ahead of the rest in battling and leadership qualities. We should of offered him a 12 month contract which I'm sure he would of accepted rather than the the 18 month he got off Notts County in L2. Akpan is truly awful and it's a concern that DH thinks he was a better option than keeping JOB, Blackburn fans always laugh at how bad Akpan was so he's not suddenly going to change into a good player unfortunately, some of these decisions by DH worry me and could well be his downfall.

 

I can see the argument about Jimbo, he was injury prone and may have missed a few through injury, and we probably thought we couldn’t afford to keep him. I would have preferred to keep him, for his leadership qualities which are sadly lacking atm.

What I would say is, we need leaders, and having let him go, we needed to bring n another. I have lost patience with Akpan, he was in the position to influence yesterday and he did diddly squat, spent most of the time avoiding the ball. On one occasion, he was in the middle and did not move to help Lewis out who was under pressure, just stood there!!

 

Agreed on Jim O'Brien, should've kept him, he made our midfield tick and freed up lewis obrien to get forward. We've lost that now and midfield back to looking totally pedestrian

 

He's no worse than O' Connor and McGowan. Are they being replaced this window too?

Last I read or heard, can't remember where now, was that Rotherham were prepared to let us take over his contract, but the sticking point was that Ball wanted compensation from Rotherham

 

If we don't get anyone in after that performance, then I think we know the state of things. No signings = no money and prepping for League 2.

Need to ship out the dead wood who are stealing a wage. The likes of Riley, Wright, Reeves all need to go fast. Worryingly, they have already been told, but no one wants them. Akpan can also be added to that list after yesterday. If we do get relegated and still have these players on our books (does anyone know the length of their contracts?) then we're going to be in real trouble. The opposite side of the coin is that they will all probably leave if we get relegated and we'll be left to a bare bones squad. I'd actually keep Isherwood, Devine and Patrick, as they can probably perform at league 2 level and I guess are on relatively low wages compared to the others.

So sad that it's only the third week of the new year, and we're already talking about relegation. Absolute devastating meddling from Edin at the start of the season. It's incredible that just his pig headed arrogance has turned us from a Championship contender, to relegation fodder.

Only a few weeks ago everyone on here was saying the defence didn't need touching, it was only ever going to take a few goals for that shower of shite to start leaking goals again.
