    Absolutely awful news this.

    Think everybody has pretty much summed up my thoughts.

    Absolute pro, epitomised the desire and drive of the players whilst here and leading to our upturn in fortunes. Will never forget those clips of him after Chelsea with fans in the minibus...but that totally summed up the spirit between the players and fans at that time.

    Think we should do something pre-season like a BCFC v BWFC game or BCFC v Stephen Darby's All Stars. Like somebody else said, he didn't really get the send off he deserved.

    Thoughts go out to him, to Steph and the rest of his family.

    I've known 2 people (pals fathers) with this and tbh, I thought it only struck at middle age or older, it's far worse at 29.:pensive: Club need to get a move on, no prevaricating, arrange a game, it'll be the most uplifting game the fans will see this season.

    An awful disease, one of the worst unfortunately. I cannot imagine what him and family are going through, knowing what lies ahead must be extremely frightening for them all.

    Very sad, a top bloke, great player and proper professional. I hope he has a few more good months before he starts to deteriorate.

    Absolutely, it’s needs to be arranged and arranged quick.

    I was morbid enough to look at life expectancy and it’s typically 2-5 years. The bloke is 29. Absolutely heartbreaking.

    I was listening to Parkinson on the radio just now and he said he’s been training but had a nerve issue in his arm that has restricted him to gym work in the last month or so. And they’ve been waiting for a specialist appointment and he only got the diagnosis on Wednesday, less than a week ago.

    Stephen epitomised everything that you ever want to see from someone in a Bradford City shirt, and a top bloke off the pitch too. Life is bloody cruel.

    Like Alzheimer - Motor Nurone can strike at any time ........... As easily as Flu, but on a lesser scale.
    All we as fans can do is support them, and others, where we can.
    Thank goodness I only have emphysema.
    My thoughts go out to the millions more worse off than myself. I can and do try and adjust, but sometimes, your options are limited, or restricted.
    One hopes the end will be today, at times - but equally, tomorrow brings further suffering, as well as those memories you don't want to lose.

    You'd get at least 20,000 turning up to a charity testimonial game for Darbs easy. £15 a ticket with half going to Darby's family and half going to an MND charity would be an interesting idea.

    Just regarding my 2-5 years comment, for some balance I saw this on the BBC comments so there may be a chance of a more favourable outcome.

    I do hope he is one that it doesn’t progress. I have felt like crying all day. I know life is unfair and I have personally felt the random way young ppl are taken from you. He is such a lovely lad and you just don’t anybody to suffer.

    I support the idea of a testimonial. Let get this done.

    Totally agree with the testimonial, I hope the club starts dialogue about this as early as possible. A City, Bolton, Liverpool collaboration perhaps.

    Such devastating news. Heard about it at lunchtime and have found it difficult to concentrate on anything at work this afternoon. Agree with everything that has already been said about Darbs, a top player for us and a top bloke too. Hope we can get a fitting testimonial/benefit game organised to do him proud. He deserves nothing less.

    I'm not an expert but I think that's a rarity. The prognosis tends to be more grim.

    I'm sure he'll get the best care this.

    I completely agree with the idea of a charity game. Maybe something with Liverpool...?

    Absolutely shocking news top player and a great example of what a professional footballer should be. I hope the club can organise something for him if he wants it I'm sure every city fan would like him to know how much we care about him and how much we want to help him!

    Without him, we wouldn't have "those" memories. I'm pretty certain about that. Absolutely devastating news for such a young lad.

    As for the testimonial. A history maker/fa cup run 11 vs a Darby 11 (ex Bolton, Liverpool, Rochdale teammates etc).
