I am excited with the whole squad tbh. Ed are about 3 players short. CB RB and CF.

It might take awhile for the squad to settle in. If MH et al manages to get them ready for the start I will be mightily impressed.

 

I guess that's the challenge now, looking at the twitter stuff I'm thinking there's buy in from the players aleady. Clearly no one's going to be winning Oscars this year but it all seemed natural and not forced. I'm sure MH and GH will get the squads heads working hard to the plan in pre season.

I was thinking the same as this.

It will be interesting to see if any do leave. Certainly if a couple of them have any doubts, by the time we get to the end of June they will know their place in the pecking order. If Jo one has left by then it will be interesting to see who goes to Spain!

 

After the way he finished the season I will be surprised if Songo’o doesn’t start the season

Fresh start for everyone I'd say, Park. Hughes will base it on what he sees pre-season.

 

True and that probably includes Threlkeld and Cook. Im not against Cook staying. Does offer summit different to the other lads. Might need a pre season to lose a few lbs.

Im actually ok with Angol, Harrat and Cook as the 3 striker options, with Jake Young an option too. I do think Harrat is being under estimated due to his age.

Id like another right back and a winger. Think thats a position we can improve on. Platt/Critchlow/Songo will do for me at CB too. Odusina would be a bonus but not essential.

11 signings and its not even July. Rest of the league is miles behind in terms of recruitment. I feel with Hughes at the wheel and 11 new recruits we have enough (bar a RB and WG) to see us through to January at least.

 

Pressure is definitely off for the moment. He's got a good couple of weeks now with pre-season and the Spain trip to understand what else is needed and see if he needs to push anyone to leave.

 

Yep. I think we could see 4 or 5 go. Including loans.

Always said quality over quantity. A big squad hasnt worked well over last few years. Hopkin, Bowyer and Adams all collected shite.

 

I'm genuinely optimistic for the new season. I say that with a degree of caution, because it comes with the territory of being a City fan. But we've recruited to a very clear plan this summer, for the first time in years. There's a template for the type of player we're bringing in; generally young, technical and on what you can reasonably say are upwards trajectories. The we've added in a top drawer, experienced DM to hang it all together and lead the side. We've done our business early and we've handed out lots of 2-3 year contracts, so whichever league we're starting out in, in 12 months time, we won't need to overhaul the squad.

And I have to say, the clubs approach to PR has been excellent this summer. There are no guarantees in football, but we do finally seem to have got our act together in terms of operating like a properly ambitious club.

 

You missed Stevenage, Evans as he does everywhere, changes the squad to his liking. He does it at every club he’s been to. They have opened the door to a fair few and as have Walsall.

Yeh they've done bits haven't they. I'm not looking at their signings with envy though - does anyone stand out?. I do think both could be up there next term. Evans and Flynn are decent managers at this level.

Northampton have brought a few in as well.
