We'll have to agree to disagree on this one mate, I wouldn't want him in my squad.

Please god no not Miller, I don't care what his stats are I've seen enough to know he's not a good player.

To be fair, I know it's 8 months ago this video, but he does look stronger and more willing than Robinson and Lavery. However, I'd still rather us be going/pushing the boat out for Dom Telford or James Norwood, before we see them go to someone else in our league and think how didn't we sign them.

Or from another point of view, if we were to let go of Cooke and replace him with Miller. We'd be getting a similar (stats wise) striker, with my pace and a lot more years left.

Never the less. In a poor team Miller scored more than any of our players managed. Not that I am saying or thinking we should sign him

Angol was already ours and you wouldn't see him on any list this summer as a new Bradford City signing, whereas Walker would be on that list Dave

Miller struggled badly in a poor team when here previously. I don’t see him playing as a 1 up front like Hughes seems to prefer. More rather off another forward. TBF players improve and he was only young when he played for city but I don’t see him as the answer. I would take Patrick over him as a 1 up front in the event if Angol inevitably being injured. I thought he was decent for Carlisle in the final game. Strong and quick. Would benefit from skilful players around him such as Perreira.

I thought Patrick was poor on Saturday. I cannot remember him threatening us once and his ball control at times was laughable.

1 player doesnt make a squad.
Fair enough. I'm guessing Gent has had a say in this IF the rumours are true. He will have scouted and made recommendations for Middlesbrough and will know of his abilities - Hughes been a striker might be able to help the kid improve too. Like I said, if he is going to be our main striker next season then we are in for a long season. If he is part of a quartet with Angol, Cook and another then so be it. Kid looks to have bulked up and matured from his previous spell.

I don't think you would get much better for free, aged 23 and with 12 goals to his name as a 4th choice striker. If the deal is good for the club and allows us to squeeze more out of budget to sign a top striker then I am not against it. If he signs, I already see it as an upgrade on Robinson, Lavery, Elliot and Delfuneso. Younger and a better season last year.

All speculation anyway and and quite possibly bollocks.

I dont think anyone sees him as an answer - merely a possible solution. If we sign him, fans will rage. If we then follow that up with a Telford or Tshimanga then all will be forgotten.

Yes I am probably dreaming but you get my jist....

Miller was a young kid before, barely out of nappies. He’s better now, as he’s proven at Walsall. Would not be bad signing at all.

he missed an absolute sitter at their place but he’s mobile, more so than Cook.

Looks to be an old thread. The one I linked refers to his good start and how 'they thought they had a gem at that point'. Recent comments are far less positive.

It would seem though that he had a few good months for them, which he never did for us. Maybe he's developed. I'd still be very much underwhelmed if we signed him, but I trust in Sparky.

    I'm more mobile than Cook.

My own view is, if we're aiming for promotion we need to think bigger and beyond going after previous players like Miller or Patrick.

Angol is good but has a questionable fitness record. Cook is a useful option off the bench when defences are tired and his lack of mobility is less of an issue. But we need at least 1 quality forward bringing in, probably with another backup type.

Look through Hughes' career, he often uses 4 strikers a season and they all get 15-20 starts a season. Same with his wingers. He has always been a rotation man, usually all his forwards aren't mobile but are physical, so not surprised we are linked to Miller. I don't expect us to sign a 'main striker' unless it's a can't miss deal.

I'd suggest we forget the idea of looking for a backup striker for now and concentrate time and budget on finding a promotion chasing team quality striker to spearhead our attack for next season, I know we have Angol and Cook who both I like btw but one will definitely miss chunks of the season and the other isn't the answer over a full season, so we may aswell prepare properly now with quality over quantity. In doing this I'd rather us utilise a capable wide player as the 4th choice striker if needed like we did with Vernam this season enabling us to get better quality for 1st choice, and hoping the days of blasting our budget on loads of squad players clearly not good enough are behind us.

If there is some truth to this rumour, I hope it's as a replacement for Cook rather than an addition to him. The majority view seems to be that Cook will be back up or off the bench option next season, but he's on decent wages so if he goes and Miller comes in as his replacement, that wouldn't be a bad bit of business as it would free up more money for a better quality forward to be our main man.
