We play one up top, for me Cook needs to go as soon as Angol was near fit he replaced him doesn’t look like Hughes rates him to me. A new main striker, Angol as back up and Miller third choice I’m happy with that when we only play 1 up top. How often have Robinson and Lavary played under Hughes? And Angol was still injured for part of the time. I’d much rather our third choice of got 12 goals in 36 at this level(same as Cook in less games) that a Robinson or Lavary. But that’s just my view, playing one up top you’re only really going to get one really decent striker. All you have to do is look at the top level at those who play one up top, how many third choice strikers are on the same planet as first?

Yeah, I'd just be surprised if we can't land a young loanee striker that was as good as Miller last time we had him. Sure, Miller will have improved since then, but he's an average League Two striker now despite all the attempts to bring him on at Championship and League One level.

Not every young striker that we might be able to borrow will max out at League Two level - in fact, we want one that won't, even if they aren't quite there on game week 1, they might just help us in the second half of the season.

I'd be slightly disappointed to see Cook goes, but if he does leave then fair enough. Hughes 100 % prefers Angol, and his style suits Angol whereas he didn't always click in Adams' team.

Put it this way, if we end up with Angol and Miller, then we're resting all our hopes on A.N. Other IMO. Miller would be better off playing 30-40 games in a midtable side and scoring 10-15 goals.

Miller probably is better going elsewhere and playing week in week out, but I’m only bothered about Bradford City’s strike force. Miller for Robinson, a young loanee who could be a wildcard for Lavary and an improvement on Cook would be far better than this season if we go down the 4 striker route. Depends how many Hughes wants, but we play one up top in league 2, best to be realistic.

Exactly. The article says that Hughes hoping to make him his first signing. Well, that's wrong for a start. Walker is Hughes first signing

Probably right , but he was ours to offer a new contract to, whereas Walker was on loan.

Semantics at play Dave. Both are a good start to the recruitment .

Walsall finished 16th, somehow scored fewer goals than we did, with Miller and Cook even-Stevens as top scorers.

Neither of us have enjoyed success this season, and for both clubs, the lack of quality up front was a key reason.

When you put the list up above, in reply to your earlier post below.
Then surely you realise that only Cook, out of those, has a contract with City beyond this season. We have added Angol. So two recognised strikers.

    Me either, I agree.

Adams was super conservative, and I think it cost him that he played a converted midfielder at right back because he was nowhere near as defensively capable as Adams wanted.

To be fair, though, Ridehalgh was given the freedom to work with Vernam at times.
