I think the wide areas of the pitch is the only real area we've got good strength in depth in terms of quality. I wouldn't be letting any of them go apart from Evans of course.

Up front and centre half still look weak in terms of quality.

 

Vernam for me is potentially the best player out of the 3 but admittedly he's not contributed enough as of yet.

 

My apologies, I thought you were making a different point - I agree there's no point getting anyone in for the sake of it. But if more players of quality are available I still feel you can never have too many forwards. That said, I don't think we'll see any more and I'm happy with what we've got

 

No probs. Yeh i meant shite as in a Samuels or Burrell type which is what I can see If we bring in another.

Cook is our main man. Adams likes Angol. Lavery experienced and brought in. Cant see another coming in to compete.

Might be needed in January though.

Where have you seen that? Wasn't in the press release, or the T&A article and I've not seen him holding a number 10 shirt.

You would have thought given the speculation on the empty number 10 position they would have made more of it if it was the case?

It would usually say "Lavery is sponsored by Shipley Bantams (or whatever sponsor) and will wear the number 10 shirt for the 21/22 season." But it doesn't...

Not too sure, but can numbers still be changed during a season? Really impressed by Lee Angol in preseason.

 

I’d be very surprised if our strongest starting 11 with Adams in charge isn’t top 7, it would indicate a strong league for this level. Could do with more strength in depth but if that’s not the case for every team at this level I’ll be absolutely shocked, any team missing 3 or 4 starters will be massively effected at most levels let alone this. Hopefully we don’t get many injuries throughout the season.

Saying that I don’t know a great deal about every team at this level, so if people on here do I’ll take their comments on board.

 

personally, I don't think 'marquee' signings cut it in League Two. most if not all of them are past their peak and really don't want to put the effort in.

even Mullin and stockton were unknowns before last season. we do have some proven good quality forwards and wingers now and personally I think this is one of the best squads we've had in years.

 

I'm hoping that the new manager has a knack of getting the best out of whoever he signs. Perhaps his style of play and methods are conducive to over achievement?

He keeps it simple and sets out exactly what he wants and expects in every position and this enables his players to go about their work effectively. Let's be honest, if this squad had been assembled without a new manager. I doubt many would have been as positive as they currently are about the upcoming season.

 

Agree with your above, also playing in front of 13/14,000 home fans must be mouth watering for any professional football, if not he shouldn't be in the game.

The only areas of the pitch where in an ideal world we could do with signings is centre half and right back where the cover us a bit limited Threlkeld can play centre half in an emergency and Sutton full back. It would be nice to have a bit more experienced cover for those areas
