Life ban from all comps, this could potentially drive clubs who had absolutely nothing to do with and didnt want such a terrible idea to the wall- if this fails the nobheads that started it all should be the ones going under. As much as it might upset some people, I'd wager to the domestic fans of these 'super' (Tottenhams' last trophy was the Carling Cup in 2008) clubs, the clubs are dead already after even attempting any of this.

This is straight from the NFL playbook. Levy particularly should never be able to watch a game at a stadium in this country again for being an Englishman and going along with this. It seems hyperbolic but I am sick to death of watching absolute vultures come and pick the game dry of everything that makes it good. It isn't the NBA, it isn't the NFL and with damn good reason

and where is everyone else’s income? TV income would drop like a stone if it was guaranteed none of those 12 were involved for a full contract

Now more details are out about it it looks more and more like a power play rather than a breakaway.

they are wanting more control over the European midweek competition rather than leaving their own leagues.

wasn’t something similar proposed when Champions League was changed previously?

they will be at some point during the next 5 years and TV companies are not going to pay the current rate without the big teams guaranteed not to be involved

That's fine. The teams that will replace those 12 will still be earning way more, so the only teams that lose out? Those 12.

depends how much the tv income drops by, those teams currently in it will be worse off too as their income will drop. Those 12 could be better off with the new competition

Neville is right - football needs protecting from itself, and these clubs and their fans, need protecting from their parasitic and narcissistic owners.

Who's going to fund the ESL?

Which companies are going to sponsor something so unpopular? Who is going to pay more to broadcast that than the Champions League?

Its been going in this direction for years. Lucrative pre season tours, now wanting a winter break, the list goes on. To be honest football at the top level finshed for me when they gave the world cup to Qatar. Any moral high ground jumping by FIFA or UEFA now complaining about breakaway is irrelevant when the game was willing to take the blood stained dollar from the oil rich states.
The game has sold out, just like it did in 92.

Writing was on the wall when Manchester United dropped out of the F A cup so they could play in that far east job. They have come in and stolen the clubs and the money will come from far East subscriptions. They no longer represent the areas they are based in and should change there names.

I agree. I think I'm done with it, at the top level. For all sorts of reasons. These clubs pretend to take a moral stand on issues like racism and sexuality, than happily send players to play in tournaments with horrific human rights records. They talk about valuing and engaging supporters, but happily shit on them at the first sign of new, foreign revenue.

The whole thing stinks. Those proud traditions that Man United and Liverpool in particular profess to - forget that. You've killed it. You no longer have the right to claim your 'working class, club of the people, you'll never walk alone bollocks'. Hang your heads in shame.

2024 they are set to change and uefa were expected to announce a new format today at a meeting. Looking at a Swiss league style model to guarantee more games for better sides.
They are already close to getting what they want but they just want more and more until there is nothing left. Let them all eat themselves up and feck them all off

The main thing is all this money these clubs will get, where will it all end up? It’s going to go to the owners like glazer etc to line their pockets and they want guaranteed cash cow by making it a closed shop.

they should be there on merit and not because they are a big club now. It’s an awful idea all for money

FIFA/UEFA/the FA shouldn't even be trying to persuade these clubs to stay. They should be expelled today.

Let them go. We'll have a better, less predictable Premier League and, maybe just maybe, a more even structure across all the leagues.

If it starts, which I don’t think it will, there will be a queue of companies wanting to be associated with it just like the PL when that started and was unpopular. As for broadcasting rights the games will be more attractive than most Europa and Champions League matches.

The FA asked Man Utd to play in the World Club Championship not the other way round
