I didn't accuse Donaldson or the team of a lack of application, and actually said I DIDN'T think that was why we weren't good enough prior. Again people misreading my posts and coming to completely erroneous conclusions.

As I said, my post was majority positive and I felt all that flew out the window. them winning today made my birthday during a shit time for all of us. I used the term happy clapping mafia because at that point I was wound up and upset at being continually called negative when I'm not.

Not that I agree with you analysis, but lets accept T&S set up as you say to give players a break, and rotate the squad, why would they keep Donaldson on for 59 minutes if he did not offer anything as the lone ranger, surely he would think the big lad isn't making the ball stick and we are giving possession back to the opposition every time we knock it long, they could have reverted to Novak and Clarke at anytime but they didn't.
We have taken 10 points from a possible 12 lets just be happy that T&S look to have given the players the confidence to express themselves and we now look a team that doesn't get steam rolled , we make the opposition earn everything they get instead of making poor decisions as we were doing many times in the past.

Because our other options are even worse and its an area we need to look at in Jan massively. I also don't think reverting to Novak and Clarke is viable at all as where would you then play Donaldson. If we went to 4-4-2 we'd lose the midfield battle and we've over a seasons worth of evidence with some of these players to show that.

Broncos makes a very good point. I think that's 3 out of the last 4 games where the opposition manager has had change things around to cope with us. It's been a long time since that has happened, let's enjoy the moment.

 

Where did Donaldson play on Tuesday night he didn't, we don't have to accommodate Donaldson in the every formation, our other options won the game at Grimsby, Donaldson was introduced in the 82 minute, why could T&S not go with the same formation.
If it was so obvious Donaldson was not doing what T&S wanted why didn't the haul him off.
We certainly didn't park the bus as Hill is suggesting, once again T&S got it bang on and made the right changes at the correct time with the introduction of Cooke and Prichard shored us up in the middle of the park, all credit to them tactic ability to make changes to effect the game.
A agree a bit more quality up front wouldn't go amiss in January.

 

It's one of the reasons I like Trueman as much as I do, for such an inexperienced manager in senior football he's a very shrewd tactical operator. Rattling an ex-PL manager in Holloway enough to change his formation was a big complement. But as you, Bronco and meself have noted, teams are now changing their system at least once per game from struggling to break us down. Makes a nice change from Stuart doing it at least once a game haha

 

Who else would you start up front to rotate the team if not him. Guthrie and Samuels are even worse and that's saying something.

I think they'd have left him on all game until tranmere started to get the upper hand a bit. His lack of effectiveness was causing us issues but we were largely weathering the storm, then they just started to get a bit of a foothold on the game.

I've said I think the played him to rotate others out, so there's no point taking him off at half time or it's hardly resting anyone is it. I think as above they'd have left him on longer had we not started to look a bit shaky.

 

Lets dream a bit @YungNath a win on Tuesday night followed by 3 more points at home to Morecombe we could be very much in with a shout of making a play off place this season, certainly if we are shrewd in the January window only a loon would have made that comment less than 4 weeks ago.

 

More praise to Trueman and Sellars for the fantastic job they've done in such a short space of time. There isn't much in this division at all so as you say mate if we make the right additions in Jan there's no reason at all we can't push on! Up the Bantams!!!

 

The same formation as at Grimsby why couldn't we go with that again, to be honest if we had lost today I'm sure some posters would have said why change a winning team, but they did and we got three points, for rookie caretaker managers that was a brave call IMO.

 

Fairs mate I thought we played the same system today but changed personnel? Happy to concede on that though as I didn't watch all of the grimsby game but I did this one.

Tbh when I saw Donaldo up front I thought christmas period he's switching it up to rest others, so would have had a pass from me if the performance was there but we lost as we've all seen how thin the squad is. they've got pretty much everything right so far and long may it continue.

 

In my opinion Peter Clarke was the signing of the summer he is a very good centre half and leader whoever had played up front today would have struggled

 

Novak looked a lot better up there than Donaldson for me, but in fairness under Trueman Novak looks like a completely different player in general. Would never have called this sort of form for him at all
