No, i wouldn't want to be deemed a racist due to the background of the people using these slaves. See, this is what the generalisation of the word racism has done. Firstly, i told one of the slaves in question to go to hospital, he clearly needed medical attention. He flatly refused, also told me unequivically not to involve the police, albeit in very limited English. It was clear he was here illegally and would have been sent home. A bit like the grooming gangs scenario. I, like many others, had heard first hand years ago from those invloved what was going on, although not to the extent of what we know now. But dare mention anything, you're tarred with the racist brush if you pardon the expression.

 

I agree. Although the answer isn’t making the wealthy less rich, its making the poor less poor. I’ve never understood that about capitalist economies - I think its the best system that exists, but if you make the poorest wealthier, then over time you’re increasing your revenue streams. Businesses don’t care about the race of their customers, they’ll happily take money from anyone.

 

These protests have been infiltrated by Antifa and their agenda. Where there appears to be violence there appear to be many white faces in the crowd. The BLM protests are being hijacked for the Antifa cause just like many protests in the past have been.

I saw a very powerful video last night of a black woman standing up to the mob telling them to stop throwing missles at the police. That woman there has more courage than the morons there to cause trouble, and she fully understands that whilst these idiots do what they are doing the message is being diluted. Toppling Statues and defacing memorials get all the headlines whilst the rest of the peaceful protest is completely ignored.

Can someone answer why a statue it pulled down because he was a slave trader, yet the Abraham Lincoln statue is also vandalised when he brought in the abolishment of slavery in the US.

 

Should we pull down Harewood House? After all it was built like many stately homes on the profits of Slavery by the Lascelles family

 

And to a lesser degree it's still happening in this day and age, we see it regularly on TV people brought over to the UK on promises of a great life only to be controlled by foreign gang masters and assaulted or told their families back in their home countries will not be safe, I believe the modern term is " people trafficing".

I agree with much of your comment, but I disagree with the point about the violence being related to the presence of white people. I’ve seen white people in and amidst the peaceful scenes and I’ve seen violent and provocative acts committed by black people (and white).

It's weird, Corbyn got shafted in the election big time, but his philosophy is now coming to the fore in the mass protests we see. Where were all these people when poor old Jezza needed their cross on the ballot paper?

This sums up where the protests are at this very moment. An unarmed handcuffed man is killed due to the action of a policeman and social media has dug up his past to deem whether that death in some way is justified because of that past.

I don’t think anyone’s saying that tbf. I think its an illustrative of the broader debate. It’s not actually been proven that this was a racially motivated incident. There’s no justification for the actions of the police going as far and as extreme as they did, but they assumption, immediately is that this was an act of racism. And despite the officers involved being very quickly charged with serious crimes as soon as there was sufficient evidence to do so, people are rioting and demanding ‘justice’. Maybe let the wheels of justice play out first....?
