Another Gotcha Question from the shithouse Media. The Tory Cabinet is only slightly less diverse than the Labour Shadow Cabinet. There are two Black members of the shadow cabinet which is potentially more proportional to the population of the UK, however there are about 50% women and yet Labour are still to have a woman leader of the party if we are going to start scoring points for who is and isn't in a position of power.

One thing I have noticed is that where there appears to be trouble in these BLM protests, there appears to be a number of white people in the crowd. Look at the footage of the statue toppling yesterday and you may notice the same. Rent a Mob activists are trying to take over this protest and make it about them. I saw fantastic footage of people dancing in the street protesting which didn't get a look in as there was no trouble there and there wasn't any of these white Rent a Mob types to be seen.

The footage I've seen shows white people in both the violent and non violent crowds in equal measure, just going by the footage. certainly, I've seen nothing to suggest that the violence is being predominantly perpetrated by white people.

It's this thing called educating yourself on the subject and trying to understand the bigger picture, something you don't seem willing to do. You can say you don't see things in Black and White but that's the way it comes across. You keep coming down on the most simplistic side in these discussions which is basically blame all white people for all black peoples problems. At no point am I saying he wasn't involved in the Slave Trade or that its something that should be swept under the carpet but exaggerating the known facts and dismissing any good a person has done has no benefit other than further trying to create a divide which seems to the SJW's goal of trying to create a 'them and us' situation as that's the environment they need to feel relevant.

No-one will argue that he was this perfect guy. He was from a time where even in the UK many groups of people while maybe not being classified as slaves weren't free, they were property of someone else (Including any married women) and in places like Africa at that time it was the norm for local wars to happen and the survivors from the losing side to be taken as slaves so no-one was perfect by todays standards. It's very easy for us in 2020 to sit here and go it was so obviously wrong but when our country wasn't perfect and we had people not just in Africa taking their own people as slaves its then a big ask to expect people of that time to fully grasp why it was wrong. It was around the time though where people in the UK were starting to think about it which was a big reason why in Britain the slave trade had its peak in the early 1680's before scaling back until it was formally abolished in 1807. He sold his shares in 1689 but remained on the board for 3 more years so for all we know he was one of those that started to get more enlightened. His part in the slave trade should be remembered but using todays standards and making massive assumptions about him to dimmish the good he also did is unfair as its saying he couldn't have grown as a person which may have been the catalyst to his sudden philanthropy.

And your comment of "Threw 12000 people over board I think because they died on a voyage" sums up by point about exaggerating known facts. Was he on the boats? No. Did he personally throw people overboard? No. More to the point was throwing dead bodies overboard seen as something that was disrespectful at the time and only limited to the Slaves? No
It was the norm to dispose of dead bodies on voyages. There are enough health issues that sailors face without the heart issues of rotten bodies being kept on board. If anything the bigger problem was not throwing them off the ships sooner as the condition of the slaves wasn't checked on enough and you had dead bodies being left for days before being noticed making others sick and then dying. Mind you while the numbers are higher you were actually more likely to die on the journey as a crew member than as a salve being transported. If there is a valid point to be made about why we should treat him as 'total scum' it doesn't need the hyperbole to make things sound worse and this is where I have a problem with the whole SJW movement we have today. They know though that without making people like him into a perfect villain who was travelling to Africa, grabbing random Black people, putting them on his boat and personally sailing them across the Atlantic and personally selling the slaves it leaves room for an actual discussion on if a person deserves recognition for the good they did even if there is some bad things in their past.

Or should we be tearing down all the ancient Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Chinese buildings and monements because they all used Slave labour to build them with a decent amount being Black Africans.

Should the Beatles change the title of their hit Penny Lane, named after Liverpool slave trader James Penny?

I've just been barred from a FB history page , everything is supposed to be non- political , they had a rant over the Bristol slave trader and being glad his statue was thrown in the river , i pointed out the Romans Vikings Normans etc etc , banned for being racist unaware of the BLM struggle , total fecking bollocks . They hairbrush out truths to fit into their narrow vision of how we should react .

Please find where I've said I blame white people. You won't. Please find where I say it's a this or that issue and nothing in between. You won't.

What a thoroughly patronising post. You carry on finding excuses for racists and I'll carry on calling you out.

My point entirely , this is why Racism is prevelent today . Any discussion ( honest fair and open ) is closed with the racist " red card "
posters on here are the same calling out racist , this does more harm than good . I remember going to football matches , school , playing football cricket with / against asian lads . We all got on fine very little tensions , then suddenly the next but 1 generation suddenly started to bring race issues into it , we all grew up together we all had nowt but 99% of the time we were happy .

Watched a black guy on tv demanding equality, when asked what that meant he said he looked in boardrooms and saw only white and Asian, He looked in middle management and saw only white and Asian faces, He looked at who swept up and saw black faces and wanted equality,
Based on that it is clear we have a racist education system with the teachers all been racist deliberately not giving them the same education as white and Asian kids

Facts, specifics, context. A breakdown of all unarmed fatalities of black people at the hands of the police in the US, 2019. There were 10.

Some of the biggest traders of black slaves were black, But of course that does not fit the narrative, It was the UK that brought about the end of the trading policing the oceans to stop it
