How transparent are the Premier League and the PFA going to be if any player test's positive for Covid-19.
There are enough examples out their of previous failed drug test's where the PFA & premier league have hushed up bans for players either missing or failing previously .

If only it were that simple. "Just end" is extremely ambiguous, and personally I can't see the can of worms it creates being cleared up in time for the '"next" season to start!

No promotion/relegation across all leagues? Greed would take over for some clubs but if we went to war what would happen then? This is similar in the way it has taken over the whole of Europe practically

It isn’t just the clubs though, it is the companies that surround the sport too eg TV contracts, sponsors etc

Once UEFA have another meeting and decide to change the rules again I think we will see decisions being made. Currently threatening leagues they will not get in Europe if they don’t finish. Ridiculous

Leagues except for France are too scared at the minute to go against them. France have hopefully set the ball rolling with decision making.

Thought they had dropped the threat about finishing and said that decisions about next year entries have to be made on a sporting level

The problem is, the last time we went to war and the leagues cancelled, was eighty odd years ago, way before player contracts, kit sponsors, kit manufacturers, Sky Sports, BT Sports and a whole load of other vultures that need feeding. The sad thing, such is the state of English football, that it relies on all those I have mentioned to function. If these sponsors all dig their heels in, not to mention the clubs getting lawyers involved, then I can't see football continuing even after it's deemed safe to do so. Sadly, unlike eighty years ago - football is now all about who can get the most money out of it.

Interesting how the less 'revenue' driven leagues have postponed/cancelled yet the top 4 are still going ahead.

but would they not ultimately cut their own nose off to spite their face if they went down that route? What would sky be for example now without premier league football? They own nothing else. They would surely be more inclined to negotiate a lesser deal for future seasons as a compromise? Clubs then know what they will be getting going forward anyway and can budget for that.

As for players well. They signed those contracts I suppose but I think we might not be far away from a salary cap, definitely in the lower leagues. And that would be better for the country I think as a footballing nation. Would put the onus on coaching and developing what you had than just signing players to get out of leagues and then dumping them like we have now

Yes, UEFA have changed their position on this. They now want all FA's to confirm by May 25 how they intend to complete their seasons and if not, what 'special conditions' are preventing that! Err, now let me think? They would still prefer to determine the CL and Europa entrants based on footballing considerations but it is a matter for individual FA's on the details of that. There's an important meeting of UEFA at the end of May which is supposedly going to bring the discussions from a UEFA perspective to a conclusion.

With France and Holland both having ended their playing seasons, I guess others might well follow suit now that UEFA's own position has changed.

Plus there had only been a couple of games and the players were called up so clubs weren’t paying them. If the same happened now the season and everything would probably be just cancelled and everything extended

Maybe a war was a bad example to use but you get the point. Nothing has ever stopped a season like this in over 70 years.

This will be similar if not worse to when itv digital collapsed for the EFL. 17 clubs went into admin as a result of that, city being one of them I think. Could be double that this time. Colchester already said will not be renewing players who are coming up to out of contract this summer

I don't think Sky care less about any league other than the Premier League. So in that case, the top division will be ok, and the reason most clubs want to get into that league is the money it brings. If Leeds for example, don't get promoted, then not only do they miss out on the massive money that comes from it, but also their current sponsors and kit manufacturers miss out from the exposure of being in the top flight. A good mate of mine over here in Tallinn, owns a bit coin betting company. He was in very advanced negotiations with Leeds last season for being their shirt sponsor. When Leeds season imploded, he set his sights elsewhere. His company is now the shirt sponsor of Watford. It's all about the Premiership and the TV listings. Leeds will no doubt start loss of earnings claims against the FA or whoever because of the revenue they'd missed out on (and probably already budgeted for), not to mention players leaving because they've proved they are good enough to get into the Prem, but aren't getting the chance to play there. Expect to see Prem teams cherry picking players from Leeds and West Brom, because teams lower than the Premiership are now financially weakened.

I have to say, I just can't get my head around all the implications, and I do not envy the body of people who have to make the final decision.

I see that Germany has the same target for the R Rate as we do, which is 1.0. That's the 'limit' to which its believed the spread can be considered manageable. Germany had it down to 0.7 as they relaxed some of their controls but its now back up to 0.96 which means they may need to toughen their measures again. I wouldn't bet on their football starting again in a couple of weeks, which has been suggested...

Not sure having your name on the front of a shirt increases sales!!

Chevrolet reported it sold one new car in the United Kingdom during January 2018. The sales announcement came in a Top Gear report published on Monday, which proclaimed UK consumers bought fewer cars last month”.

“Manchester United agreed to the record $559 million, seven-year deal to put Chevrolet's “bowtie” logo on the front of its iconic red shirts. The deal kicked off with the 2014-2015 season and runs through the 2020-2021 season”.

Seems like a massive loss leader to me! (Mugs all over).

The legal implications are widespread , if a club plays behind closed doors and a player contracts and sadly dies would the clubs be open to law suits ?, or say a member of the ground staff , police etc? . Would the insurance companies payout ? I honestly think the PL and EFL will follow the French and Dutch leagues in the near future and cancel to season . The welfare of the public should be the primary concern not the clubs or the media outlets .

What were the numbers prior to the deal?
What are their competitors numbers over the same period?

I think that's a bit of a reach. Because if that was the case then none of us would ever go back to work.
