The only point that might be a saving grace is to incur a delay to completing the season and then completely change the football calendar to to run from spring to autumn. The World Cup in 2022 is a winter tournament, so if ever there was a chance to change things round, now would be it. But then, for countries with much warmer climates, they may be reluctant to play the majority of their season during the summer.

    Nonsense mate.

Voiding the season will create massive issues.

I can't see Man Utd accepting not being in the CL again. No chance when they can get into this season.

As I say your brain seems not to be able to just move dates.

There isn’t a solution that DOESN’T create massive issues. Contracts everywhere right now are being examined for force majeure clauses. Legally, its probably the cleanest way forward.

But as ever fordy, its just noise. You can stamp your feet all you want, but you’re incredibly naive and you don’t offer practical answers to the problems that would be raised in delaying the end to the season.

The fundamental problem is that completing this season has to have some sort of backstop date to avoid massive implications. And no one knows when a restart will be possible, or when an answer is likely.

And by the way, the FA/PL/FIFA need to be coming up with practical solutions and answers. Nebulous statements like ‘we remain determined to finish the current season’ are all well and good. So, when and how will that work - in the context of the huge challenges that an open ended delay creates.

It comes as the number of people who have died with the virus in the UK rose by 260 to 1,019 on Saturday.
It is for these poor souls.

The wrong thread for this but numbers were always going to peak and are going to get higher in next through weeks because we haven't the equipment.

People are going to die from this. It was pointed out at the start but we need to at some point get back to normality(when that is I don't know)as more than 1k will die from being homeless or taking their own life.

No one is immune from the devastating way this virus is slowly dismantling the fabric of our society.

There will be a whole new world at the end of this.

Not by you Fordy you was adamant it wouldn't reach 1million worldwide.
You say above "your brain seems not to be able to just move dates" seriously this is a massive world crisis as @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam says, football and all sports fall into significence in comparison.

Tell that to the Barnet staff losing their jobs and struggling to feed their families.

It's way too simple to say that the season can finish when it finishes, even if it's December. The teams and even the Clubs will have changed by then. It's been suggested that to get over that problem somewhat all contracts will be extended by a month for all players but that may not be enough.

    Well that's what's being discussed.

As is changing the transfer window.

One thing no one cares about will be transfers and certainly not when no one knows when or if next season starts. So a player out of contract is highly unlikely to get paid for months because they won't have a club.

Unbelievable mate, comparing people out of a job against people losing their loved ones.

My daughter who's friend is a nurse spoke to her this morning and said the older people who get COVID 19 will not be resuscitated, I can understand that statement, but with me and my wife both being over 70 I can assure you that is far more worrying than whether this football season is completed.
My dear old mum had a new hip replacement at 80 years old so I'd suggest if the above is fact the NHS are taking this virus very seriously.

Not comparing anything just pointing out that sport is a business and you're confusing it with a hobby.

Unfortunately, for everyone the world is going to change and no vaccine for 12-18 month they isn't much we can do but hope that the equipment, testings etc is stepped up.

My thoughts are not based on ending the football season, it's based on giving hope to people because if we can't work in the next 2-4 weeks then all hell will break loose anyway. The self employed will go back to work and business owners will open.

So, yes I accept things have to be put on hold but little things matter in times like this to give you and your wife hope. Can't you see this? Or is the world ending for you right now in your mind?

I'm not sure I'm the one confusing anything, of course football is a business, the difference being I can live with out Bradford City (I think) but I cant live without food suppliers, heating, water ETC.

I don't think people could live without football.

Let's say the ENTIRE football pyramid collapsed as of tomorrow, all clubs go bust, no such thing as professional football - what do you think is going to happen the second society has half a chance?

They're going to start playing football, and start organising it.

So on that level, whether people CAN live without football is irrelevant because they simply won't.

Anyway, that's all a bit overblown. It's not the apocalypse, it's just a very dangerous virus. It will be gone this time next year, as with previous coronaviruses. They just don't mutate fast enough to give us a permanent headache like flu.

Not too sure about that Dave
Unless it's different with Covid 19 all patients regardless of age will be resuscitated unless they have a signed DNACPR against them
