Home vs Exeter 2nd Nov

The best team to visit us was FGR. Not the prettiest, but the most effective. I know we had tons of the ball and decent pressure, but in terms of controlling the game their way, they played it perfectly. A classic shit house victory.

 

I don't know who I think will finish higher out if FGR and Exeter, but I think we will finish higher than both of them based on those games and performances.

We are more complete than either side.

We might just be the most complete side in the division.

 

Think I'll always have a soft spot for Exeter. Purely because their complete and utter capitulation in 2013 opened the door for us to sneak into 7th place when it seemed like we'd messed it up!

 

Cheltenham looked a good side. I think they had more about them.

Ultimately, I just want automatic promotion. Dont care how we do it. Right now, I think we need a bit more of a cutting edge up front and more control in midfield

 

This league is there for the taking. If we can still be in the top 4 or 5 going into the new year, then once we get the likes of Donaldson, Palmer and Devitt back for more options, and hopefully we still have Cooke and Connolly, I feel confident we can get one of those top 3 spots.

Recalling Doyle would be an additional bonus, if thats possible

 

I agree I'd take any automatic but being greedy it would be great to see us win the league. Something I've never seen in a 30 years of support!

 

I agree. Be a special moment would that. And we should bust a gut to get it. 2-3 good additions in January would put it in our reach.

 

Stefan was here yesterday maybe talking January budget etc ?.

 

He lives in Germany not Australia.

He should be there OFTEN!

I do believe he watches in Germany I understand.

Glad he was there yesterday though because yes we won the game which is all that counts but the game yesterday highlighted we still need a little more and to recall Doyle.

 

Recall Doyle, keep Cooke and Connelly, get Palmer, Devitt and Donaldson fit, dont think we would need any more additions

 

I think we're making hard work of an extremely poor league.

I agree we should take the risk to get the reward. It's there for the taking!

I'll be disappointed if we don't win this league get over it quickly if we finish in the automatic places.

The players we look at it Jan should be of league 1 standard. We need to planning ahead.

 

Although Cooke's been a great addition, I'd like to see us get shut of Anderson and bring in a proper dedicated defensive midfielder in January.

 

Very odd game, Again i too thought exeter were the best team ive seen so far. Seems strange we are talking about their attack been poor yet others think AOC and BRE were man of the match. Were their strikers just poor due to our centre halves been that good?

Tin hat time but here goes........do we think edin did a good job sorting the pitch out. A year or so ago that pitch would have been like muddy swamp come 5pm if it had even gone ahead at all. It seems to hold up and play quite well in view of the poor weather

 

I believe he wasn’t given much choice. But yes except for a small bit near the corner flag at the corner stand, the pitch is the best I’ve ever seen it. I think it’ll be good throughout the season as it was last year.

 

He had no choice because the FL were threatening penalties if it didn't improve, as I recall.
But I seem to recall reading that Rahic took the cut price option rather than the full overhaul. No doubt @wetherbywhaler can confirm.
I noticed that it looked pretty good yesterday but it's early days. Let's see what it looks like in February if we get a wet winter.

 

It looks better because at last we did not dig it up and reseed it as we have in the past seasons, The grass has had time to bed in and develop stronger roots so will cut up less,

 

We need another central midfielder who can run midfield and a tall physical ball winning centre forward who can not only win it but hold the ball up letting us get out of defence quicker without it coming back, And chipping in with goals!

You're a fountain of football knowledge is uncanny @Fordy117, not sure he watches games whilst in Germany, do you have any links etc to sustain that comment.
I doubt very much his visit was to see football, as we know he has little interest in football, I'd suggest it was more a business meeting with Julian and Co unless you know different ?.

 

I'm sure parker has reported that stefan watches all the games. Presumably through ifollow.
