Winning away and still with a disjointed performance. That's got promotion written all over it. Hasn't it?

Won 5/7 with 1 draw and 1 loss.

What could we achieve when we hit our straps?

Walked them round from the home area and put them with our guy standing behind the goal, it made sense.

Not yet. He had a good spell when he came on. He shows promise. If you just watch the highlights you will just see Donaldson's miss. Yes he should have buried it, but just focussing on that misses the hard work Donaldson put into that performance. Despite having someone stand on his ankle, unpunished by the ref, he ran his socks off and held the ball up really well.
TBH he might miss next week because of the ankle anyway, but even without scoring himself he is important to our game.

It was a sitter missed by Donaldo but apart from that, I thought his play today was excellent. I also thought Oteh did really well but if we're on the subject of sitters, what about his header at the back post? Down into the ground and over the bar. (His 2nd touch).
First live one the season for me but Donaldson played really well. Oh, one of our full backs was not very good but the other managed a 70 yard run to support a breaking Connolly who poked it wide despite Wood being free in the box. But I finally got to see a live City win.

If you want to be pedantic I'll rephrase it to "appears to be more accomplished in front of goal", which let's face it isn't exactly difficult when we have a striker missing chances from 3 yards.

Scapegoat? Not for me. Dropping a striker on the basis that they are abysmal in front of goal is perfectly reasonable.

Hopefully promotion. Just not getting carried away with an average performance. A better league 2 side would have beaten us today. Agree it’s a good trait to play ok and win. Need to see more from this team. Hopefully we will grow as the season develops.

We seem to have said that we'd be beaten on another day a few times this season.

But as those other days go by, we still aren't losing. Great sign surely.

It doesn't matter who scores the goals, but as a striker he's playing in the best position to do it. Fair enough, it didn't really matter today, but in tight games his missed chances will cost us points and when they do the reaction on here will be a lot different.

As a focal point of attack, I'd much rather play Vaughan. His hold up play might not be as good but he'll bury the type of chances Donaldson had today which will serve us better long term.

Doesn't seem to be acomplished wth a header from the same 3 yards that you are vilifying Donaldson with from his miss.
BTW both miss th bloody target when they should at least hit it

I get what you're saying, he works hard for the team, his hold up play is good etc but does it compensate for the fact that he's failing to do his main job as a striker and in spectacular fashion at that?

Whilst we're winning I suppose it doesn't really matter. Further down the line we're going to wish we had a more clinical striker in the team. A goal scorer is literally the only thing this team lacks, and if we find one we're going to be unstoppable.

So following a number of earlier posts in this thread, how about some views on the following:-
    • The train from Bradford. How was it for you?
    • Pre-match drink. Was it okay? Decent beer or crap at inflated prices.
    • How many City fans in none ‘away designated’ areas?
    • Atmosphere?
    • Match ratings. Sounds as though we did what lots of teams have done when they visit VP, played ‘ish’ but scored when it matters.
bullet points to please @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey ;)
