he's not played any football for 2 years, and we don't even know what his injury is.

he's finished. plus even when he does play he's not all that good. just get rid of him.

All this 'he's finished' stuff puzzles me. How do any of us know?

He was highly thought of at Wimbledon and started the 17/18 season very well for us before he got injured. You don't suddenly forget how to play football because you've had a period out.

None of us knows what the injury (ies) was or how well he'll recover. If he's three quarters of the player he was he'd be a significant improvement on most of the CMs we have now.
    Let's just see what happens.

The fact nobody knows is probably the biggest issue. At least if it was an ACL rupture, for example, we'd know what was going on and roughly how long he'd be out.

We've been told nothing so clearly people will speculate and until the club or Jake do make a proper statement and/or he returns to the squad the speculation will only grow.

Yes, I understand the frustration and resulting speculation, but jumping to the conclusion that he's finished, as some have, seems premature to me.

To be fair, Bowyer just offered Garry Thompson a coaching role as a favour, and the very next week spoke about Reeves having the tools to become a... Coach.

The timing of that article doesn't suggest Bowyer had much confidence in Reeves in a playing capacity.

For me, even if Reeves was able to play, getting back to a high level is far from guaranteed. He may have to look at becoming the next Eddie Howe, who also had to retire at a very young age.

So be it, it's not a bad thing necessarily.

Erm I do, but it's down to Jake or the club to release the info, if they want too.

To be fair, towards the end of last year I really thought things were looking up. Then I went to Barnsley.

Because that was 2 years ago and he hasn't even been so much as on the bench since, with an injury that absolutely none of us even know what it is.

Yes, I know all that. But the fact that we know nothing about the injury/ies means we also have no idea whether he can recover sufficiently to resume his playing career.

What we do know is that it takes a long time to get back up to speed even after an 8/9 month layoff i.e ACL and some players are never the same after i.e Anderson who's done that twice and is nowhere near where he was prior. Reeves has been out for over double that time so if he does come back it's likely he won't be a patch on the player he used to be after 2 years doing nothing but trying to recover from whatever it is he's done.

I'd also add that in all the time I've watched footy which is something like 15 years, I've never known a situation like this at all.

That's brutally harsh. Injuries are part and parcel of the game. Any £50million of £50k player could get a career threatening injury in training or a competitive match which is neither the fault of the player or club. To put blame on Reeves for holding us back as you infer is naïve at best, probably cruel. If he is injured he's entitled to his wages as he rehabilitates. I don't know why he's absent at the moment. It may be that he's been on sick leave in which case his wages would surely follow in line with industry. Usual example being, full pay for 6 months, half pay for 6 months, zero wages thereafter. Again, I don't know what the circumstances are but to heap blame on him for holding us back is unfair. We've had plenty of time and opportunity to sign/loan adequate replacements.

Personally I hope he features this season. I always thought he was intelligent on the ball and I could see him forming a partnership with Palmer.

I haven’t heaped the blame on him. He is part of a group who’s wages are the reason we haven’t got all our bodies in so far we needed.

It’s been 18 months and more now since he even kicked a ball in anger for us. Football is a cruel sport and we need to get out of this league ASAP.

I liked him as a player when he played for us but I’m not sure we will see him play for us again

If he's been 'ill' rather than injured his wages won't be an issue as I explained.

You do know that football operates differently to normal every industry work.

The club will no doubt still be paying his wages in full.

I might be wrong but I know the industry operates differently.

I highly doubt sick pay is in a contract for limited time just like an injury isn't.

Either way, he's getting paid that's for sure.

What ever the situation is hopefully he wil be back sooner rather than later, but even when he is fit he will only be introduced from the bench I would think.
So maybe we wont see a fully fit Jake Reeves who can do 90 minutes before the New Year.

I think you’re being hopeful there. He’s training most of the time. How does that count as been Ill off of work?

Football is a totally different beast to the normal workplace
