No and I don't think anyone is saying that. I don't remember Devine playing at all this season, that's how much of an impact he's had.

Like Wright, Devine is now wasting his career having played about 15 games in 2 or 3 seasons.

I'm not criticizing them for not leaving - i wouldn't if I hadn't any options - I can and will criticise for lack of effort, which from Wright especially, has been very evident.

how do you suggest Hopkin deals with it? these two players clearly aren't good enough for League 1 football with us currently, we're in a relegation battle and desperate for any points we can get... do we give up 2 places in the squad every week to accomodate these two players that we aren't confident will produce anything if we have to use them?

I'm not blaming the player for accepting a ridiculously high wage contract. Any of us would have done that. It's not Hopkin's fault either, because he wasn't here then.
What I'm saying is that if Wright wants to continue as a football league player well into his 30s (as most players do these days) then he needs to take a pay cut to move and play games in either L1 or L2. If he just sits out his contract and pockets the money, without playing games he's effectively finished as a league pro footballer.
On the other hand, if he's not bothered about playing for more years then crack on, fill yer boots and retire in a couple of years.

 

Haha we are going round in circles here! Like it said it's open to interpretation. To me, and Marshy77 I think, I read it that if they continue to train correctly then the door could still be open, either at City or elsewhere

He seems to either misinterpret Hopkin's statements or think he knows better.
Or maybe he is just one of life's wind up merchants and loves getting people to react. The world is cool of them.

 

Loads of clubs purchase average footballers on reputation alone. James Hanson is good example, he was well past it towards the latter end of his City career and despite this Sheffield, Bury and Wimbledon were still willing to take him on despite him being nowhere near good enough.

It'll be the same with Josh Wright. A league 2 club will look at his Championship and league 2 experience and will think they are getting a right player.
