A half decent target man to compliment Bruenker....did you just say that....really....he had a decent half but that was about it...we're really scraping the barrel then..

 

To compliment Doyle I meant. I was just thinking of Brunker when I wrote my post and accidentally put his name down. Iv'e been very vocal about Bruenker being rubbish and didn't even think he had a half decent half vs Oxford. Our fans didn't half overstate his performance that day.

Two ways to look at that ...........

City have not had a strapping forward upfront all season, yet we've shown we can score goals.
Conversely .......... If such a player was selected most games - Would City revert back to 'Hoof-ball' ?

A big forrad is similar to the decried number 10 role, play it when advantageous, not as a primary means. Horses for courses, as they say. Either as a starter, or from the bench.
Both those are an option - It just happens we don't have anyone better than Bruenker ............ YET !

I think that ship has sailed, Bolton were hawking him around for a while, now he's started to show some of his ability he will command a decent fee I would think.

 

Only Wimbledon have scored fewer goals in the league than us.

Scoring goals is a massive problem for us.

We don’t need a 6’4 shit house that can’t play. We have one of those.

We do need someone. Who’s 6ft ish, with strength, power and talent. Someone who can hold the ball up, link play and score goals. It’s a glaring hole. All sides at this level have at least one striker like that.

 

I don't think they need to be a lump up front. Someone who hassles defenders, not giving them a free header etc, who acts as a fulcrum and the ball sticks. You don't have to be a lump to know how to use your body to shield the ball etc. Alan Shearer being a prime example but look at the likes of Messi and Iniesta. small but use their body strength. Ok i have taken some unrealistic observations.

 

We need quality, and quality costs.

True, but money talks. It's the sort of bold move we need. There are other options though.

 

A target man is the key if you ask me. We look better when Doyle, Payne, Ball play off Bruenker so imagine how much better it'd be if they were playing off a good target man!

Then I'd probably be looking at a centre back and a winger. Anything else reliant on getting rid of players / players leaving. Seedorf might be an obvious one as his loan expires next month but I seem to remember Huddersfield having a recall option for Payne so they might want to move him on to another side further up the league like they did last season.

 

Agree with what we need. But who is actually available? The boys that are performing well, will all be commanding over inflated transfer fees - especially after Rupps public statement of intent. Because these boys are performing well, then it means their teams are in the top half of whatever league they are in. Which means they are needed for the promotion push. Read - cost even more money, and possibly massively long negotiations. We don't want to go down that route again.
I just can't see us getting what we want/need. Unless we look abroad.....(and that hasn't got us very far in the past).
January is going to be pivotal not just for this season, but for seasons ahead.
