Hold on. You think it was a mistake, which you may well be right with, but want to stick with him?

I haven't read much of this thread - there's very little point. The thread's existence is a very good example of the flawed thinking of the sack 'em brigade. 'Your preferred manager'? as if it were as simple as that. When have we ever got our preferred manager? Hand on heart can anyone really say Grayson, Bowyer or even Parky for that matter was their preferred manager? In the real world the next manager will be available, within budget and able to muster enough positivity to paper over past failings. If that's preferable to what we've got now then fair enough - go for it. If you think it means the Cowley Brothers or Michael Flynn are about to rock up, think again.

Because as I said we did appoint him and now he needs more than a few weeks to prove us wrong

What happens when we fire him, Rhodes appoints another manager then Rhodes leaves. New CEO turns up and doesn't like the appointment and makes another change. The sooner we get a new CEO the better.

What annoys me about yesterday was we have someone with over 40 years of professional football experience, a lot of it at the top level and including many years of management experience yet twice in four games he's admitting to sending out the team with the wrong formation and which he has had to change at half time. Football is a very simple game, surely after 40 years you must know the formation and personnel you've sent out is fundamentally wrong. If not I'd question your role as a football manager.

Stuart was a lazy appointment made by our supposedly out going CEO the decision had nothing do with any ability or suitability for the job am sure the rationale behind it was to temporarily boost morale around the place and secure a few more season ticket sales as well as (no one else was on speed dial) We had tried the likes of Grayson Bowyer et al who all failed and options who would take the job for whatever reasons were severely limited the time has now come quite rightly to question that decision and we seem to be short of answers
Not happy with the current managerial situation but as I see it we haven't many options when you consider which manager would take the job knowing that any incoming CEO may not see him as part of his plans
It's time the new CEO was unveiled and let's here his vision for the club why it has to veiled in secrecy is beyond me Mr Rupp needs to either commit to the club and publicly state he is behind the new guy or we all might as well go and watch our local pub team, if he is waiting to sell at profit he is deluded
Survival this season being the aim is a nonsense why wasn't this said at the outset we can blame Edin all we like but things have got worse on the pitch and haven't finished getting worse yet that's not a knee jerk reaction we are a rudderless ship regardless who the manager is and until things change at the very top it's stalemate

Its infuriating. I posted before kick off, that the team selection was bemusing and would end up in the midfield being overrun and the full backs exposed. And guess what happened? Others posted similar - so why cant a footballing stalwart, with top level experience as a player, not see such obvious flaws?

I also think not having a preferred system after so many years of being a manager is also strange.. look at the good managers, they employ a system and sign players to fit that - if the player doesn't suit, he doesn't get signed. McCall still doesn't seem to know what or how he wants to play. strange.

Because maybe some don't want Bradford City to do what they always seem to do which is act too late or not at all.

Unfortunately, it would seem McCall is out to prove he is a good manager but trying far too hard and is not getting himself all confused in the art of football management.

As I said before unless results are disastrous I would have him see his contract at the end of the season out

It's something that was evident in our transfer dealings, seemingly bringing players in but with no real strategy as to how they were going to fit a system. Even right now we see players out of position in a sport which is very position specific. There a few on here who think you can just go out and sign 'utility players' and then make them fit a system, like a real life version of championship manager on the PC. Doesn't work like that, we all know we still haven't brought in a central midfield anchor man or a decent wide player to help create chances but instead we brought on Gareth Evans, a decent lower league player, but with no strategy as to where he would play other than he can 'play multiple positions. The same problems as under Bowyer where we had multiple players for the dreaded' 10' role but no out and out midfielders and wide men. For the love of God this club needs a strategy on and off the field.

    Has it unravelled since?

    Nope.

If Harrogate's manager left, would they plummet?

    Not so sure...

It's amazing to think we're on a forum where it's UNIVERSALLY recognised that our failures aren't down solely to the manager, yet we seem to think success elsewhere is solely down to a coach?

Let's not be selectively naive here.

Considering changing the manager before the new CEO comes in is madness.

The new CEO can evaluate the situation and act accordingly. If he wants to bring in a new management team then so be it.

The new CEO has to be the start of a progressive era at the club and that definitely includes the right management team for whatever strategy they have going forward.

Until then we have to hope that enough other teams stay below us in the table. Yesterday was a shocker, much worse than Harrogate game. I hope SM and KB are watching the dvd of the game today and looking at each other and saying "what were we thinking putting that team out".

Luckily nobody with any influence is considering changing the manager

We're very much in day dream mode here, giving the utter catastrophe of a single defeat.

Apart from one good season getting us to the playoffs what else has McCall done?

I've said this in a previous post in another thread; if you constantly sign utility players, you'll only ever get 5-6/10 performances.. a utility player should never be a player who is the first name on a team sheet.
