Clearly the double promotion winning Alex Neil, leans more towards my view. He was the best keeper we had since Doyle's first spell.

Yes he'll be a bench warmer - but a Championship club ain't paying money for a player that's no better than the Rochdale ace, Richard O'Donnell :)

There's been a raft of crap bench warming keepers that have played (or not) for PL clubs so just because he got a championship move doesn't mean he's all of a sudden a good keeper.

Let's see if he plays first. If not he's just another keeper happy to take the biggest wage offer without worrying too much about appearance fees or progression in his career.

Bass has got age on his side, ROD hasn’t. Anyway, Hornby was better than them both

R’OD turned down West Brom for us as he wanted to play, best of luck to the lad but at his age he’d be better playing week in week out than this. Imo this is worse than going to a league 2 club and starting every game, which Hornby and R’OD could be doing next season. I suppose though Brad Jones was a great keeper coming from Liverpool, same with Sattlemier as he’d been on Munich’s books…

No way was Hornby better than ROD.

ROD has had a long career as number 1 keeper at various clubs. Hornby has never established himself as a number 1 anywhere in his career and he is in his mid 20' now.

ROD is still the much better keeper in my opinion.

Bass also far better than Hornby from what I saw of the pair

Sunderland have made a signing with potential with Bass. He made some mistakes while at us but which keeper doesn't. The lad is better than what some city fans think.

I thought he was alright. Certainly good enough to be #1 somewhere at L2 level. Tough old life being a keeper, don't get many chances to stake your claim. Obviously he's confident that Sunderland's coaching can improve his game and he expects to push for a first team spot.

I agree. He's young and learning. He'll do well for himself. In a couple of years he'll be first choice there or somewhere in the championship.

Started off decent RT but somehow tailed off even though the rest of the team seemed to improve. Jury is out for me tbh.

I personally wouldn't have minded signing him permanently to be honest

If he came on a free or a nominal transfer fee I agree but otherwise I think Hughes has gone down the right route Lewis, Doyle and the kid Richardson.

To be fair, ROD has 16 clubs before he joined us and only played more than 25 games at one of them (Walsall), 12 of which he played less than 20 games at, only playing 240 games in 13 seasons.
