Very impressed with Colin Doyle pre match with the keepers no worry there. All round a good performance nice stadium and outlet didn't see Becky Doyle though

 

Agreed - and that will make all the difference.
ROD was a decent enough lower league keeper, but Bass was awful I thought. Never forgave him for that ridiculous 95th minute penalty he gave away against Swindon at home, what an idiot.
I liked Hornby and actually thought she was the best of the three keepers.
However Lewis sounds like he’s a real upgrade so far which is great! Could be worth a few points as you say which could make all the difference at the end of the season.

 

Bass also saved us the points on several occasions a bit rash at times but on the way to being a good keeper

 

Yes a few good saves, but overall I didn’t rate him at all. Seems Cowley doesn’t either as Pompey have brought another keeper in.

You have a few beers today Park, first you had Staunton in midfield and now Lewis is on the small side!

 

I think Bass was still a raw talent. He did make some rash mistakes at times but he also saved us a lot of points with some quality saves. Was decent at commanding his box an definitely had some potential about him

ODonnell’s form had plummeted off a cliff since his first season with us an numerous managers failed to get him back to the level he was once at

Hornby had the best stint between the sticks under T&S an our defence was rock solid, mainly due to Hornby barking orders at the back line throughout the game. It was evident though that he was poor at set-pieces, namely free-kicks around our box

Here’s hoping Lewis can be the step up we’ve so badly needed

 

Maybe at Carlisle we’ll be the “Bah Humbugs”…..

 

Lewis is not very tall for a keeper

6ft 3 “ or 1.9m according to Wiki, that’s a cats *@?$ hair smaller than Sticks. He’s big.

Unless of course Wiki is wrong.

 

Soccerbase and a few others also have him down as 6'3. I'm assuming him being short is just another "parkism" and best to be ignored.

 

Add it to his Kelleher looking “very impressive” in his 19 minutes sub appearance against Colchester.

I have to say saw him on the training vids and thought he isnt big for a keeper. That said he was stood next to Kelleher if memory serves me right.

 

How did young Kian do yesterday? Does he have a future in our match day squad???

Gunna be a few left out that first game considering squad has 29 members.

Expect Threlkeld and Finn to leave in some form. Possibly Staunton and 3rd choice keeper cant be expected to find a place. Thats still 7 who will miss out. Hughes wants Dion too.

 

Have to say he’s not looked out of place and seems to have bulked up a bit - whereas last year he looked a bit slight.
Not sure what position he was playing, seemed to default to a deep lying midfield alongside Smallwood but did get forwards a lot more.
I would’ve had him down as ‘needs to go on loan’ and maybe he still will but he’s done alright actually.

 

I told Park how tall he was in a post yesterday, which he casually ignored as usual. After being proven wrong once I thought he’d at least not bring it up again to be proven wrong again and again. He’s 2 inch taller than World Cup semi finalist and Euro finalist keeper Jordan Pickford for context…
