I don't feel that kinship to England, but something about these covid times tell me that the country as a whole would benefit so much from an England win, and I'm prepared to express my preference in my country this time around. It's a one off and if we fail, everything goes back to City.

I was 2 when we won the world cup and my first memory of WC football is therefore Mexico 70.

It's close run, but I've gone with England as if we (Bradford City) fail this year I have every confidence in Derek Adams that it will be next year instead, possibly as champions. I don't have that confidence in England. I think the stars are aligning this year and come the next world cup Germany will have rebuilt, Brazil will come back stronger and we will be lucky to get 4th place again.

    Ask me again next Monday.

This is how I look at it. Of course I'd be delighted if England win, but that delight won't come close to how I feel when City do well, and if England fail to win, I'll get over the disappointment far quicker than I do when City fall short. Still not completely over Wembley 2017 if I'm honest....

I saw someone put the Billy Clarke miss up the other day on Twitter, and I was genuinely gutted. Still never watched that game back.

I’ve no idea why I’m so sad, however I’ve been giving this some thought for days.....
I knew in my heart my answer was always going to be Bradford City promoted but couldn’t articulate why. Reading some other posts has helped me understand why i feel that way.
I’m as patriotic as anyone else, on Sunday the BBQs coming out, beer fridge loaded with Saltaire Blond, champagne on ice, a few mates coming round should be a great evening........
I’ll be gutted if England loose but it won’t hurt like it would if I were watching City, the party will carry on! Someone mentioned Villa away, what a night, makes me smile just thinking of it, the elation of Liverpool at home to stay in the premiership, I didn’t get to go to Chelsea however occasionally I’ll put the DVD on and still well up at the end.
I won’t buy a DVD of the England match, whilst I’ll get caught in the euphoria at full time if they win I won’t loose any sleep if they don’t.
That feeling at Wembley V Millwall at the final whistle the feeling sick to the Pitt of my stomach. Not speaking all the way up the M1 home before 8-00 because I drove like a Twit.
City are my religion, my drug of choice, a cross I bear through life........,England are a football team who I desperately want to win, but well, with England it’s only a game!

Whilst I enjoy nights like this, watching England do well in a major competition, it's no contest for me. It will always be City first.

Yes of course promotion everyday. We go up we get bigger crowds and play better teams and get to watch better football week in week out, England win the Euros and its back to playing the likes of San Marino in World Cup qualifiers in September nothing changes.

    Hope both happen though.

It's not a question to me. The answer from me will always be both. That's not me being greedy, it's just that I am a proud City fan but also a proud Englishman even though some people find that not very PC these days.

    England.

Over the years I've lost a lot of affection for City. I didn't renew my season ticket last season for the first time in 25 years. My love for football has continued though and I feel passionate about this group of players in this England squad.

Both are totally independent from each other.
Why can't we have both as England's performances have no bearing on BCAFC.

I would rather City win a throw in than England win the Euros.

Iam city through and through, have been for over 50 years . Talking to my lad about this and he said , dad its a no brainer and i was thinking City , but he said England. He reasoned how often does the national team get a chance to win anything, where as City get the opportunity every season. Both usually dissapoint though. Its an eye opener when you realise your son has more logic and sense than you.
So my answer is city, no england, no city, why can in not have both, just for once.
As a side note , he is just as crazy about City as me.

Come on mate . A manager with a good record, one we have actually had to go out and attract from another club.
New players and a CEO who is trying to do the right things , improving the stadium , attracting new sponsoship. keeping the fans informed .
We are a long way from where we all want to be but also a long way from where we were.
The start of a new season , is always a time to believe greater things are ahead.

I try to stay away from negative comments about fellow posters but Fordy , you are definately a wind up merchant.
You have one stock answer to every question. Failure and a lack of assets. I am now starting to think you are not even a City sopporter , but just come on here to annoy people and your latest comment of players that cant get into non league teams is the best yet.

Its why I have no time for these pointless gestures made by players, clubs, football organisations. If they're ready to preach for 'equality' and then head to Qatar for a world cup, its hypocrisy of the highest order.

Much easier to talk about your principles, than actually live to them.
