I thought it was close and i wouldn’t say we were outclassed, England were well on top after White’s disallowed goal. Keira White was very unlucky with that long shot, first half, great save by the USA keeper, and also the near own goal. Their time will come, hopefully learn from this one and come back stronger. They are not miles behind the USA.

On the offside with VAR it needs to be obvious and clear, Otherwise we should emulate the way cricket does it and if it is marginal go with the referees original call to make the decision

Since I posted, the sole person attaching racial connotations on here to nig-nog, is you. I didn't use the word in public but on a minority local forum where most of the posters will have heard the word and knew it's origins, especially as I alluded to a football league many will have known, or even played in, you didn't.

Rod Liddle in The Times suggested it should be used only for the one thing that really matters, did the ball cross the goal line or not? I agree with him, VAR is dehumanising the game, go further and why have a ref?

I've missed the context to this but I am surprised to see the term 'nig nog' being used. Whatever local usage the word has/had, it does also have a history of being a racially-charged derogatory term and so I can see why someone might be uncomfortable with it being used.

In Durham vernacular nigs are boys and nogs are girls. Quite forward thinking really.

Don't worry, we are in the snowflake era/generation, God help us if we ever again have to fight our corner...

31,000 at the Etihad for the Manchester Derby today. The women’s game is certainly gaining in popularity faster than I thought it would.

You have to bear in mind though that there were no PL games today and tickets didn't even cost a tenner. Still, the Women's World Cup certainly didn't do the game any harm.
