What on earth do i mean? Funny, i don’t recall girls really getting any opportunity to play football when i was at school in north yorkshire, and i am 40. I certainly don’t remember there being mixed teams or anything like that either. Even in a relatively remote part of the uk, we have some girl’s teams now from primary level and upwards, as well as mixed classes at different ages. This is definitely different, my wife who is from ft william said there was absolutely no provision for girls football at school, even going so far to say it was discouraged. She is younger than me. So forgive me if i fundamentally disagree, based on my experience. My point is about accessibility for girls, at a school level. I have a daughter, and am glad she can play football if she likes and that it is now the norm, rather than the exception. In my world, this is called progress.

Also I don’t recall there being numbers of female football pundits, female match officials (in the mens game) etc etc that there are now. As for your points on finance, are you really sure that no men’s team have bought success and jumped the pyramid? Do you think football is really sustainable with the ridiculous sum of money at play and the ever widening gap between the top sides and the rest? Are teams really living within their means, look at bolton! To be honest, i’m not sure why you are letting it bother you so much. It’s not affecting your premier league team is it?

So what if it’s ‘PC’, as i said above, if it gives my daughter more choices, i couldn’t care less if a bit of political correctness causes you some annoyance, fact is, we have had more opportunities in many things than women and girls, i’m glad they are getting some recognition. The mens side get plenty of recognition and exposure, i’m sure most can just for a short time, watch it for what it is and wish the women's national side all the best.

Something wrong with women's football. They are not covered head to foot with stupid tattoo's, they don't cheat, they don't roll over four or five times when fouled, they don't go down holding their face when caught on the shoulder, they don't start fights. Nah, they've no idea how the game should be played.

I'm a little bit drunk and excited after that performance. Some great play and what a flipping goal from Bronze she's such a good player.

Haters gonna hate but we should be proud of that team. Some of stephs last ditch tackles and goal line clearances are darby-esque! They must've traded tips!

Am puzzled by the women's game, Wheres the rolling in agony, The holding the face when kicked on the ankle, Wheres the going down with the slightest touch on the shoulder, Wheres all the diving and acting?,
All seems a bit strange to me

Well boys I have watched my first women’s match today England v Scotland and I was surprised at the quality tbh. I had seen glimpses of it in the past and thought it was a pale shadow. However, remarkable improvements have been made both technically and skill level. It is still slower than the men’s game, and they are not as fit, which is something that can be rectified. I just think there is still improvements to be made, but I enjoyed it.

Plenty more support than moaners on here Shell. I thought it was a great game, some lovely goals. Great celebration by ellen white sweeping the nation! For all those that have been involved in the womens game for a while and supporters of it, i’m really chuffed for them, it’s turning into such a good advert and an enjoyable tournament. A tough semi final in the offing though, but 90 mins, England could do it, rode their luck at times last night, but they made their own luck and were pretty ruthless upfront with their finishing. Will be watching france v usa tonight. Whatever happens, I think the womens game will only continue to make strides forward, hope so anyway.

Bollocks. VAR should be for obvious mistakes. No point in ref ever giving an offside. Might as well see what happens then check after the goal. What’s the point of the lino. Great finish from a great striker though

Agree with all of this, think there is a lot of positivity towards our team and women's football in general. I do read bbc comments though which is full of sexist drivel and people moaning about it being 'pushed down their throats' bbc left wing agenda (wtf) etc

I believe that last night was a real statement of intent from us, best we've played and we will give a good game to whoever we face. Yeah Norway had chances but at an advanced stage of a world cup I fully expect that. We could have had a few more too.

It was a massive scuff of a penalty. I've seen more threatening backpasses. Such a shame because the USA were rocking a bit at that point, after the disallowed goal, and we were starting to string a few passes together.
I don't understand why they don't get Lucy Bronze to smash in the penalties. I'm sure she'd put her foot through it properly.

I've tried it before and just cannot get into it. The standard is poor and the game is too slow. I find it comparable to going down to the park and just happening upon a Sunday League game of The Red Lion vs The Hitching Post. You start watching it but after 5 minutes you carry on your way to see if you can find any conkers.

As a kid I played like hundreds of other kids in the Nig Nog football league and collected Golliwog stickers to get a free badge, All very innocent, How times have changed, Probably for the better with the multi cultural country we have become where for racial peace and harmony we have changed some of our past culture so as not to abuse others and quite right that tolerance of all cultures should be respected even our past which in most cases was innocent and had no racial intent as mass immigration had not yet taken place

It's what annoys me about this 'Women's football is equal to mens football' push. It's not and it should stop trying to prove it is so it can focus on how to actually make it its own enjoyable product. Some sports can have the male and female versions find their own way without any major changes but something like Football needs changes to account for the physical differences that hinder spectacle, things like making the goals smaller, maybe making the pitch smaller or even reducing the length of halves would help make it a much better watch as it would offset the physicality limitations that women have against men

Agree Cameroon's conduct throughout was appalling and that's where a decent ref need to get a grip of the game. So many bad decisions but allowing them to basically have five minute sulk and crying break after our second was ridiculous.

Prob should've had 2 red cards and a penalty too. Agree the officials wimped out of some decisions for fear of their behaviour escalating further.

Poor officiating like that means the game loses credibility. Hats off to our girls for rising above it, they deserved better
