Been away for a week but kept glancing in to find out about transfer rumours very little on the thread dedicated to it

 

Well aware we are L2 this season but what makes you think the players are magically going to perform ?? We had a great chance with the players we had to reach a play off spot but for some reason they didn't perform We can say it was the "Edin Effect" but results after December were abysmal They all had a good reputation when they signed but not the attitude
Why would that change now

You are quoting that sustainability was part of their stated policy when they bought the club two years ago. Which part of that do you want me to highlight is NOT factual, but VERY hilarious? I can't actually think of one thing that they succeeded in setting out to do that they said they would, back in those hazy days when they first bought the club.

When they first bought the club, they clearly said they wouldn’t change the model of Lawn/Rhodes. They stated that they would stick to a budget and not get into debt trying to get out of this league. In their 1st and 2nd seasons, they stuck to that and didn’t spend more than they had coming in. However, Edin took the club in a different direction and against the policy they had set out with.

At no point have they ever said they would bankroll our promotion push, even if Edin took it upon himself to try

True. But they did say they'd bankroll it in other ways, such as setting up the development squad, buying young prospects and selling them on for a profit. A profit which can be used for a promotion push. That worked out well didn't it?
What I am really trying to say is, that it's pointless going back to the archives and quoting Rupp and Rahic, because those two years were a total farce, with the last year being a total scam. There were no facts, because there were so many untruths.
Rupp did well to finally see the light, and it was wonderful for him to kick Edin out, and then come up with a very strong statement backing up his intentions. Whether it was him or Hopkin who failed to back up these claims with signings we needed to save us from relegation (indeed, at that point, build on our recent success), then we don't really know. One of them has gone, the other still remains. And its until I see some serious intent - OTHER THAN paying off loans and debt due to mismanagement, then I still hold judgement on Rupp.

 

But it’s this statement I’m not agreeing with. Whilst I understand you want Rupp to fix the issues, the answer is not to throw more money at the problem. Rupp has made funds available for Bowyer and this is more than compete for this level. Now if Bowyer can persuade some of the existing squad to move on, there’s no reason why he can’t assemble a squad capable of promotion, without spending more silly money

 

it's going to take longer than 24 months to set up a system where we develop and sell for profit, it takes years to set up that kind of operation - just ask barnsley, brentford and peterborough. if you were expecting it to be successful straight away then unfortunately that's on you. not every single player to go into that system will be successful either, especially in a club that is trying to establish that kind of operation from scratch and not on the back of a successful academy that is already producing talented young players.
