I think that we have left the cosiness and connect through not having local owners, as we have throughout the past. From a fans perspective, the present custodians may well have landed from outer space..it follows that there will likely be no connect in their tenure, as existed previously. Their fastest way to acceptance is by bringing respect and success to our Club and by not insulting the loyalty and dedication of a sizeable fan base by ill informed judgements..the very ones that have alienated them and brought us to where we are right here right now..

I’ve been supporting City since 1961 and in that time the following have been Chairman/ Jt Chairman
Albert Harris
Stafford Hegginbotham (twice)
Bob Martin
Jack Tordoff
David Simpson
Geoffrey Richmond
Gordon Gibb
Julian Rhodes
Mark Lawn
Edin Rahic
I’m not sure that Rahic is the worst of theseTennesseebantam, marshy77, How and 7 others like this. -
Like a lot on here, I no longer live in Bradford. I have a relatively short round trip of about 60 miles on a match day. If I stopped going, I would lose so much, which may well be difficult to rejuvenate.
It would be a final disconnect with Bradford.
So despite the Owners I will still come to VP. I have decided to take Rahic’s apology at face value, but I now want to see action to back up those words.
If there is clear evidence that he has reneged on his promise (and that of Rupp in May 2018), then I may loudly voice my concerns in the future.
Coming up to a quarter of a century of regularly turning up at VP, I do not want to lose that. How, Jay, WilsdenBantam and 7 others like this. -

That article should be compulsive reading for our owners and players. I am pretty sure David Hopkin gets it, and I have faith in him to restore those values talked about in that article, however, it is going to take time and patience required by fans

The defining moment for me whilst supporting City was the McCall Hendrie era when I found myself watching our team play a standard of football I had never witnessed before. We had a "team" and although the above were leading lights the rest were all essential cogs in the wheel.
This was followed by promotion to the premiership and then realisation dawned on me.
We are Bradford City,we CAN achieve our dreams and we CAN again. As a kid I thought we were always destined to be lower league as though there were some unwritten law.
This dream, which I hope to witness again, won't happen when someone takes charge and decides we should be a feeder club as that destroys the "CAN" part of the dream. It demonstrates the disconnect between the fans and what they want and an owner who is only interested in profit.
My suggestion to Mr Rahic is sell City to someone who cares about our club and loves the game and buy yourself a business that you can make money.
The apology was welcome but your philosophy is not.Leeds Bantam, River_City_Bantam, Utters0 and 5 others like this. -
The feeling of being robbed is exactly how I feel. It is like having all your memories and how you feel about City dumped in the dustbin. You just get the impression you no longer matter, we as a group of fans no longer matter. There will be concern about the fans disconnect, but only in terms of the amount of revenue they can generate and consequently their investment going down the pan. What also concerns me is the fact that a number of fans view that it is the owners club, and they can do what they like, including the fans money!
Yes of course they paid the previous owner, so they could take over the running of the club and make money, but as far as I am aware not another penny has come from the owners pocket for investment.
It is like ordering a product online, you have ordered this product many times and like it, only to get down to pick it up to find it has completely changed, it no longer looks like the product you are used, you complain about this, but nothing happen, you more or less get told to take it or leave it. Plus their is no trading standards to help you either.Johnny Yen, River_City_Bantam, Utters0 and 4 others like this. -

The author of the article has about 10 years on me ........ But that pails into insignificance, as I can reflect upon, and share almost the whole 'experience' of his article.

It is not a matter of saying we should be grateful or otherwise at what Rahic is doing - it is too early to say
It took Richmond 3 years to get us out of this division and the season before we got promotion in 1985 we were bottom of the league in November (1983)
Of the list of Chairmen the only one not to see us relegated was Simpson (plus of course Rahic) and yet his spell in charge was less than spectacular
Yes I would like to see continuous progress but to suggest that we should expect it as a right is fanciful at least -

We sold Wyke, for profit. It just shows the germans are in this for short term profit. make a quick buck.

I want Bradford City to have more success than that because of my love for the club.
My first Bradford game was Swindon town 1998 when we beat them 3 nil. I remember my first time in Valley Parade, it was such a magical moment that I knew I'd be hooked with the city bug for life.
But I feel that we really have stumbled into dark times. I honestly don't think Edin has the love for the club that we have and that's why I'm firmly in the Edin Out camp at the moment.
I hope to see great results on the pitch, but it'll take a lot now for me to trust Edin Rahic again, literally a miracle.
We've seen miracles as Bradford City fans, but I don't see a miracle with Edin.
These are dark times and even if we do get success this season with Hopkin, Edin has done so much damage that him as an individual, I wouldn't have a pint with him.
Overall an excellent article, thanks for sharing @OnsideTony Wilkinson, Utters0, Hulmebantam and 2 others like this.
