I think that we have left the cosiness and connect through not having local owners, as we have throughout the past. From a fans perspective, the present custodians may well have landed from outer space..it follows that there will likely be no connect in their tenure, as existed previously. Their fastest way to acceptance is by bringing respect and success to our Club and by not insulting the loyalty and dedication of a sizeable fan base by ill informed judgements..the very ones that have alienated them and brought us to where we are right here right now..

I’ve been supporting City since 1961 and in that time the following have been Chairman/ Jt Chairman
    Albert Harris
    Stafford Hegginbotham (twice)
    Bob Martin
    Jack Tordoff
    David Simpson
    Geoffrey Richmond
    Gordon Gibb
    Julian Rhodes
    Mark Lawn
    Edin Rahic

I’m not sure that Rahic is the worst of these

I think my take on it goes like this. The importance of ‘being City’, seeing my family and friends (who I may not se otherwise), is more relevant than who the Owner is.

Like a lot on here, I no longer live in Bradford. I have a relatively short round trip of about 60 miles on a match day. If I stopped going, I would lose so much, which may well be difficult to rejuvenate.

It would be a final disconnect with Bradford.

So despite the Owners I will still come to VP. I have decided to take Rahic’s apology at face value, but I now want to see action to back up those words.

If there is clear evidence that he has reneged on his promise (and that of Rupp in May 2018), then I may loudly voice my concerns in the future.

Coming up to a quarter of a century of regularly turning up at VP, I do not want to lose that.

That article should be compulsive reading for our owners and players. I am pretty sure David Hopkin gets it, and I have faith in him to restore those values talked about in that article, however, it is going to take time and patience required by fans

The defining moment for me whilst supporting City was the McCall Hendrie era when I found myself watching our team play a standard of football I had never witnessed before. We had a "team" and although the above were leading lights the rest were all essential cogs in the wheel.

This was followed by promotion to the premiership and then realisation dawned on me.

We are Bradford City,we CAN achieve our dreams and we CAN again. As a kid I thought we were always destined to be lower league as though there were some unwritten law.

This dream, which I hope to witness again, won't happen when someone takes charge and decides we should be a feeder club as that destroys the "CAN" part of the dream. It demonstrates the disconnect between the fans and what they want and an owner who is only interested in profit.

My suggestion to Mr Rahic is sell City to someone who cares about our club and loves the game and buy yourself a business that you can make money.

The apology was welcome but your philosophy is not.

The feeling of being robbed is exactly how I feel. It is like having all your memories and how you feel about City dumped in the dustbin. You just get the impression you no longer matter, we as a group of fans no longer matter. There will be concern about the fans disconnect, but only in terms of the amount of revenue they can generate and consequently their investment going down the pan. What also concerns me is the fact that a number of fans view that it is the owners club, and they can do what they like, including the fans money!

Yes of course they paid the previous owner, so they could take over the running of the club and make money, but as far as I am aware not another penny has come from the owners pocket for investment.

It is like ordering a product online, you have ordered this product many times and like it, only to get down to pick it up to find it has completely changed, it no longer looks like the product you are used, you complain about this, but nothing happen, you more or less get told to take it or leave it. Plus their is no trading standards to help you either.

I understand your view. The problem they have now is one of trust, I think a sizeable number of fans don’t trust them.

Time and technology both move on BWWB. When most of those guys were in charge a fan would talk to a few other fans but now, hundreds can join in discussion. Go back 18 months and following years of disappointment, we were on 4/5 years of forward progress. Our family club, fans and players were a tight knit group and proud to be so. Now, as eloquently illustrated in the woap article, our heart has been ripped out and our sense of identity crushed. It is not only players and a manager who would fight all day long for us kicked out but long serving staff as well. The way they have gone and the hints of their wrong doings has had a demoralising effect on a lot of us and we are concerned at what tomorrow will bring. I know some will say it is always the same few on here that knock our leaders but the majority I talk to, in the pub, the street and half time at the game say the same. I have no qualms in saying, I want Edin to go and the sooner the better.

Can we stop this weird notion that somehow our home kit is modelled on the German flag. I'm no fan of Edin Rahic but people really believe this sort of rubbish?

Sounds a bit like dismissive acceptance of a situation I see as unacceptable. I don't think we should be seen as inferior to the likes of Accrington, Wycombe and Wimbledon. We were building year on year. then someone comes along and demolishes the lot. Yesterdays tragic announcement was a reminder of what we had built and all of it has been swept away. Togetherness throughout the whole of the workplace is a big step towards the final product goal and we had that. Our owners response has been to treat PEOPLE as insignificant and use character assassination to show the reasons to get rid whilst putting gagging orders in place. Is that going to create a good atmosphere? Personally, I feel that Edin's attitude to his fellow man is a problem for anyone trying to run a business and whether or not we have had good or bad chairmen in the past is irrelevant. Our situation is now quite perilous and we need them to step up to the mark or go.

If it was a step backwards for reasons beyond the chairman's control there wouldn't be a problem, a step backwards because the chairman believed his model was the one to take us forward (with no experience) will be a little hard to stomach for many, that is the big difference to me, and I would suggest many more Bradford City fans who have seen the club go backwards under Edin's tenure.

And possibly about 30% of our fan base @vladimir@vladimir . We just never found the time, or put in the effort to make our feelings so public. Yet there again, I've not really felt the need to - Even when walking in Town during the week, I can catch the eye of a complete stranger, and a quick 'nod' of acknowledgement shows we each have this undying affection for 'our' Club.
The author of the article has about 10 years on me ........ But that pails into insignificance, as I can reflect upon, and share almost the whole 'experience' of his article.
I sense that when you can feel this way, then you really are a fan.

I bet he and a few more of us oldies (you know who you are) could sink a few whilst telling of our times following City.

It is not a matter of saying we should be grateful or otherwise at what Rahic is doing - it is too early to say
It took Richmond 3 years to get us out of this division and the season before we got promotion in 1985 we were bottom of the league in November (1983)
Of the list of Chairmen the only one not to see us relegated was Simpson (plus of course Rahic) and yet his spell in charge was less than spectacular
Yes I would like to see continuous progress but to suggest that we should expect it as a right is fanciful at least

How far down the football pyramid would we need to go before you would consider allowing City fans to demonstrate some "ambition" and aspire to a higher position?

We sold Wyke, for profit. It just shows the germans are in this for short term profit. make a quick buck.
We should be trying to get promoted , not selling anyone and everyone

I agree with you 100% Jay. I think Edin wants a feeder club that has moderate success that he can use to bring in players and sell on for profit.

I want Bradford City to have more success than that because of my love for the club.

My first Bradford game was Swindon town 1998 when we beat them 3 nil. I remember my first time in Valley Parade, it was such a magical moment that I knew I'd be hooked with the city bug for life.

But I feel that we really have stumbled into dark times. I honestly don't think Edin has the love for the club that we have and that's why I'm firmly in the Edin Out camp at the moment.

I hope to see great results on the pitch, but it'll take a lot now for me to trust Edin Rahic again, literally a miracle.

We've seen miracles as Bradford City fans, but I don't see a miracle with Edin.

These are dark times and even if we do get success this season with Hopkin, Edin has done so much damage that him as an individual, I wouldn't have a pint with him.

Overall an excellent article, thanks for sharing @Onside@Onside
