I said yesterday that clubs should demand fans with season tickets to get a text every Thursday. Bring the results with address details. No test result proof no entry to the game.. simple.

The 90min tests are going to care homes then hospitals first.

There is no way it is feasible to have fans tested. Testing is expensive, you would have to do it for every game and the accuracy of these tests is still worryingly bad. Its hard enough having to test all the players and matchday staff.

Some establishments are taking temperature checks of all customers on arrival, this isn't ideal either (in terms of accuracy) but is better than nothing and is probably achievable.

 

I meant having all your details checked before you can proceed through the turnstiles...

 

The premier league are talking about having a health passport before allowing crowds in don’t know what details will be on there.

The progress on the 90 minutes tests sounds positive. Think we also need to be mindful though that while cases worldwide keep increasing the availability of tests might actually decrease again and frivolous tests, such as those needed to enter a sporting event, might actually be truly needed elsewhere.

 

I am sure my employer is going to let me go out of work every other Thursday so I can get a test to watch football, not!

Logic is lost on fordy why would he have to have checks he's only 1 step down from the pope.

 

It's mind blowing, the testing can't be just for football and its fans, think of all the others sports where people gather in numbers they too would need a clean bill of health to enter stadia etc.
And of course passing negative on a Thursday does not mean you'd pass a retest on a Saturday.
Good news and I agree we need to get back to some form of normality asap but as @Aaron Baker says there are far more important causes for the 90 minute virus tests and just how many people would be required to the test results out, even as now by text.

 

I wasn’t thinking of having direct tests for sporting events I was more thinking if these 90 minute tests are rolled out in vast numbers, you can track a case so much easier. You could make it mandatory that person waits for the results in a testing centre and then is sent to isolate for 10 days if positive.
There’s no way of them continuing life as normal and infecting other people. It’s done and nipped in the bud there. Then as a result the infection rate is down in the community and you have a chance or nullifying it.

make everyone who comes via air or sea have one on arrival. You have to wait for the results before allowed to enter and continue a “normal” life
