He is the leader of the opposition, so if he's not asking for measures to be eased he is happy with the present situation, he cant have it both ways.
I would think as Labour leader he will get the minutes of sage meetings ?.

So surely you will be advocating keeping 2 mitres and the banning of gatherings no matter how good the cause might be.

The government followed the advice from the countries top scientist and was decided by Cobra which consisted not only the governments health advisors and also members of all political parties.
For the most part the devolved Scottish nationalist goverment and the devolved welsh labour run welsh and krankie is held up as perfect.
The lack of preparation and stockpiles of PPE in the most part the fault of previous governments.
As I say let’s see what the political landscape looks like in four years

You're sadly mistaken on a few important points there.

Firstly, Cobra is a Govt committee called for specific emergencies (the name comes from Cabinet Office Briefing RoomA) and comprises a few inner members of the cabinet, the head of the Cabinet Office, certain political and strategic advisers (incl Dominic Cummings) and occasionally scientists who are not members of Cobra but do attend to advise on specific issues. It is usually chaired by the PM when he decides to turn up although it's been widely reported that he missed the first five meetings of Cobra at the start of the pandemic. Whilst first ministers etc are sometimes invited, opposition party leaders are definitely NOT members of Cobra and do not attend.

Secondly it was the May Govt which decided to ignore the recommendations of Exercise Cygnus about 3 years ago after it ran its pandemic simulation and found the country wanting in terms of PPE, ICU beds and lots of other important stuff, which would have prevented the country dealing properly with a major virus oubreak. And at the time when May's Cabinet ignored the recommendations, both Johnson and Gove and of course Jeremy Hunt were members of the Cabinet. They were part of the decision to kick the Cygnus recommendations into the long grass. The PM cannot now get away from being in part responsible for the failure to plan for the Covid 19 crisis.

And the PM chooses to ignore the advice of his medical experts when it suits him. We've seen this recently when he benched Prof Van Tam and then the Chief Nursing Officer for saying things he didn't agree with on the daily press briefing. And previously Messrs Witty and Vallance have themselves stood down from the daily briefings. Despite what he says, the PM gives the impression that he prefers to focus on the politics of the situation rather than the science.

You can reserve judgement for four years time if you like.

You can reserve judgement forever, for that matter.

You might not want to criticise the government no matter what, that's fine.

It won't change the conversation though.

He has tabled motions and made the government u turn about 3 times now in the last 6 weeks alone. I think he’s doing ok as an opposition, don’t you?

Depends how you interpret things, some say a "U turn" whilst others say the government have taken advice with regards the new recommendation and implemented it, as with the Marcus Rashford suggestion, don't you think a change of opinion is a good thing instead of just ploughing on,

He was asked three times today whether he thought it was safe to reopen schools and failed to answer frightened to upset the teachers unions and northern local councils who are refusing the kids education
He was also asked his opinion on the two metre rule and again failed to answer

Sadiq Khan has attended meetings as have others. I remember at the time that certain political leaders were invited to sit in on cobra meetings.
As for your second point yes he was part of goverment that should have done much more as should many previous regimes but was not directly responsible
As for disagreements with experts it’s pure speculation from left wing media. Take the present situation where there is massive pressure to ease the two metre rule but Johnson is sticking by the advice and losing support across his own party.

Schools have been open throughout the lockdown to serve key workers and vulnerable children. Attendance was very low in the early days but it has gradually increased as fears have subsided and parents lobbied schools for places due to their own personal circumstances. There have been zero problems from school outbreaks that I am aware of so I would assume it's pretty safe to push on with increasing the numbers of pupils in schools. It's been more gradual in nature than just sudden returns one might guess from changes in the lockdown rules. It's been creeping up each week. (See histogram in link below.) The way the virus has continued to fall away rapidly in the UK despite rising attendances, I'd be surprised if we won't be getting close to normality in September, though still with a mix of remote and classroom learning.

As many have explained he is on the Sage meetings, so can't really answer about the 2 metre rule.
On the school subject again he doesn't need to reply. Boris said every kid will send a month in school and it hasn't happened.

Boris is hanging himself...Labour don't need to answer anything.
Oh yeah let's spend 1m reprinting a plane - wise using tax payers money like that in this moment. Boris isn't a leader. As bad as Corbyn.

Other countries are starting the cancel social distancing in certain sectors/industries.

Nicola has always said she wants normality back in August but testing is clearly the way forward and always has been.

Same old Labour , just a new mouthpiece . They've not learnt from the last 10 year's , at this rate they are going to end up in the wilderness longer than Moses and the tribes of Isreal .

Labour or any other party don't have to answer anything. Boris runs the country and messing it up.

Unless you think 3m unemployed, nearly 50k deaths for Covid, lack to testing & PPE is acceptable?? Well do you?
