When do we start to question Hopkin?

Nothing to do with egomaniac chairman leaving then?

 

Partly for a game or so but that soon wears off if the players are not suitably prepared etc. Morale is boosted in the short term but to keep performing well is a sign of good coaching and a clear game plan.

Just give Hopkin some credit.

 

Funny thing is at the beginning of this very long thread when those defending Hopkin cited the egomaniac as having some part to play in results it was slapped down. Back then it was all selection, tactics and coaching.

Its hard to stress just how important it was him leaving. It also helps that Hopkin finally realised that banging the ball long straight not only never worked it also got the fans backs up. Play to the strengths of the players at your disposal, don't keep banging it long when the ball keeps coming back. Thats just dumb insolence.

 

Funny that there is a whole host of positivity around the club 'not just the supporters' since ER left. Think Hopkin said similar in T&A, not quite those words obviously...

 

There is no doubting Rahic leaving has had a huge impact, the players look like a different team in a tiny amount of time, we are now creating far more and outplaying teams which we haven't done for over 12 months. The players look like a huge weight has been lifted, and they are finally enjoying playing for the club.

This is why I didn't blame Hopkin whilst Rahic was here, he was never going to succeed where 3 other permanent managers in the space of 12 months failed until the cause was removed.

 

A portion of it is Rahic leaving. I’d say the rest has come from Hopkin and his coaching staff. It’s no coincidence either that the new coach has come in and we are scoring goals and keeping clean sheets

 

Yes they deserve big credit, it was aimed at those who were wanting Hopkin sacked whilst Rahic was still here, and in my POV it was unfair due to constraints at the club. Now they have been lifted it is far fairer to judge Hopkin on results and performaces, which are very good post Rahic

 

Yeah agree. There’s no doubt Voldemort finally f-ing off has removed that dark cloud he cast over the club. That said I think what we are seeing as much as this, is the fruits of the hard work that has been put in by Hopkin since joining. Simple stuff, like uniting the players and allowing them to enjoy their football. Such a small trivial thing, but even look at the players reaction when they score now vs the past 4 months. They celebrate together and just look a tighter knit. This is the result of better people management than it is Voldemort leaving. Of course, it massively helps when results go you’re way as well!

 

Just dig this up again.

No! How many times? The upturn in form is because Rahic is no longer there. The players simply didn’t want to play for a *@?$ of a chairman. Unhappy footballers are a powerful bunch of people.

 

Today was as good as ive seen from any side in this league, since we came back up to this level.

An outstanding performance in every aspect.

Give over. I can accept it for a few games where the morale is boosted and the players have that lift. A bit like the new manager bounce but it doesn’t mean we continue to win weeks after he has gone.

You’ve got some weird obsession with Rahic and him leaving

He’s gone. Get over it and concentrate on a good city side playing good pressing, attacking football.

You don’t suddenly learn how to do that because the nasty chairman has gone. That comes from lots of work on the training ground and work on fitness by again Hopkin and his coaching team. Rahic wasn’t feeding the players pies

 

Fair enough, mate. Let’s enjoy the upturn in form. The likes of Payne don’t become better though through Hopkins coaching, you can’t underestimate the power of unhappy players.

Agree. Injury list getting back to normal. The fact he took over mid season so had to try and increases fitness whilst coaching. Takes time to turn an oil tanker. Other chairman will be looking on in interest in the league above I expect as that’s what you want from a manager.
