Cool, meanwhile both cities are in the top 20 for the UK economies by GVA, comfortably the biggest in Yorkshire, yes we're second best compared against Leeds, but that's like Liverpool claiming its an investment wasteland because Manchester is more successful.

    Big deal.

There are far, far less attractive cities to invest in than Bradford, and only a small number more attractive.

Just because Bradfordians have a severe sense of butthurt because its in the shadow of Leeds means nothing to investors. Since we're talking football, Leeds is actually irrelevant as they are not for sale.

It's not only Bradford, there are other areas. But as a city Bradford sucks.

What has it got to do with investing in the football club though? Even when Bradford was in an economically better place than it is now we've virtually always been in the 3rd and 4 th tier with poor investment in the club.

The trouble is the main industry in Bradford
not a lie at all in the 50s and 60s we still had the wool trade we had a big television making factory and even a car maker. Unlike today’s mining areas were millions have been pumped in to replace it. And now the engineering factories have also disappeared and we have a very unskilled work force .

I emailed the BBC this week about what they missed off their list of things Bradford gave the world. It’s a shithole alright but it’s my shithole of a home town.

We all know from travelling what people think of the city rightly or wrongly.

It's a made up reputation arbitrarily assigned by locals with no real understanding of the city's economy, I'd suspect.

Basic research tells you it's an attractive city for investment.

As for football club ownership, you've got Hull City, Millwall, Barnsley, Portsmouth, Wigan, Blackpool, and Coventry all with significant foreign investment.

Oh, and Bradford City are owned by a rich foreigner.

Please note: those clubs listed are not concentrating specifically down south, or in some fictional Northern area of mega investment - and all those places could be listed as 'shitholes'.

We are beginning to grow as a manufacturing city, or so the BBC We are Bradford stated last week. I have forgotten the figures but it really surprised me. Lots of small manufacturing start ups.

Parts of it are, but beginning to change. Plus when the Gaumont opens again watch it take off, no soulless First Direct Arena either. That place has true history of music.

I forgot about the big Mail order companies. And the city centre is basically a shopping mall only

Actually the area that encompasses the media museum, alhambra, odeon (once its done) the pool and the town hall is very good. Bottom end of town is OK, top end isn't.

Bradford has a very young work force, in those terms its a young city. Wages are low, on the whole, as costs are low, one of the key reasons it's a top 20 city economy.

There has been significant redevelopment of the city centre, you know that just by walking through it, that's not slowing down, there is a state of the art shopping centre alongside a thriving retail park, and I'm fairly sure you're refusing to acknowledge the success of the restaurant industry in Bradford, which is as good as anywhere in the UK.

Yes, times have changed, no, we're not in the industrial era of Mills and factories. Is Leeds?

No real understanding? I've lived here all my life, i understand everything about this City. I've seen a city centre decimated to a point where few people visit. Businesses have left, we have endless empty buildings and land stood empty that once housed these businesses. Its not a fault of Bradford, it is what it is.

Yep apart from North Parade, which I think has really taken off. But there are plans for the whole of Darley Street, so hopefully that will be redesigned.
