What do we need?

Yep - they changed 5 for last night vs their starting line up for the abandoned Accrington game last Saturday.

 

Still think the finishing of the chances needs to improve we are not clinical enough. Free kicks - we need a player capable of taking them and scoring / creating from them. We waste the few we get.

 

We need leaders.
We need players with balls.
We need players with experience who don’t panic at the first sight of defeat.
We need players who are up for a bloody tough scrap and understand the importance of this club getting out of this current league position.

If they can play:
CB
LB
Winger
Target man
Then they’ll do for me!

 

I'd say we are desperate for 4 players very minimum LB,CB,winger and a striker. Obviously more if budget allows but these 4 positions need sorting asap.

 

I will give Hopkin his due, he is pretty much straight up as to how many he wants in(i think in the t&a he said 3,maybe 4).
Quality in all areas is what is required.

 

Physicality down the middle centre half and forward and pace down the wing is just what is needed

 

We don't know how influenced Hopkin is with the improvement but I think we should get rid of players not putting in a proper shift and recruit 4-6 new players.If we don't bring in enough quality options before end of Jan and our form drops again we would be in trouble.

We can't risk it.

 

You can only shift out contracted players if somebody wants them.The way some of ours have been performing,that may be difficult.

 

We need to rebuild around a solid back 4. That is the most obvious pressing need.

Do we go for short term fix in January, bringing experienced players like Caddis in, or do we have one eye on the future, which I still think will be league 2 football next season, and bring in players with the long term in mind?

Whatever we do, it isnt going to be easy, it never is in the January window

 

All of the wish / shopping lists that I have seen presuppose that half decent players will be prepared to come to VP. My take on things is that we need some points on the board ASAP, not just for the obvious reasons. We have to be 'in touch' and have a realistic prospect of being in this division next season for us to be anything like an attractive proposition.

 

I think we'll need more than that,we all know where we need to strengthen and the numbers don't equate to 2/3 players.

 

Good point.I think longer term planning needs to be done in the summer window.The Jan window is always more difficult to get the right players in and you usually finish up with 2/3rd choices.That's a temp fix.

So shore up the defences,hope we can keep our decent loan players and crack on until summer and have complete revamp.

 

We need to do everything possible to hang to division one status if that means temporary fixes so be it.
It is very hard getting out of league two

 

I wonder if we will bring players in on loan with a view to some of these individuals signing if we retain Div1 status with their contribution.

 

• Listened back to James Mason on radio Leeds last night and he stated there were some issues financially behind the scenes that needed sorting out. Not sure if anyone else heard that.

I suppose we have to temper our expectations.

 

We're limited on number of loans allowed so any better ones in means letting some go first.

Personally think Mason should be keeping quiet. He chose to leave us, and now he is trying to stir things.

Leave it to Rupp and Rhodes to sort out

 

I think quite the opposite. His passion as a fan was clear, it was almost as if he was in his old role again. He was fully behind the current team.
