What do we need?

So we have to be realistic and not say a whole new 11, but instead you say 6 plus three if we dont keep certain players on. So saying 9 in total, almost a new 11.

May as well go the whole hog and just say 11, could do with all you said plus another striker with some movement to replace Doyle and a back up keeper as I would be worried if O'Donnell picks up and injury and Wilson has to start

 

A defensive coach to help Hopkin.

 

We need back to back league wins.

We need to win our next 2 home matches.

If we don't then the January transfer market won't matter.

 

We need a new PM

 

We need a left back and centre back. 2 centre backs if possible, but 1 as a minimum.

Let Henry and Wright go. And Reeves obviously. Send Seedorf back. Look to keep LOB and add another CM. Someone can help us keep the ball and protect the defensive. A Josh Cullen type.

Keep Ball. Keeping Payne will be a challenge.

If we manage to get all that, then I’d look to move on Chicksen, Brunker and at least one of McGowan or NKP. Devine may as well go too.

I think we need some central defenders and we need some width. I know we've scored 7 in the last two games but unless Scannell is back soon we'll be too one dimensional without any wide players.

 

The key for me, is making sure we don’t compromise next season. We can’t be short termist. We have to ensure that if we go down, we have a strong budget and the basis of a strong side that can hit the ground running. So any Jan signings need to be funded and willing to play in league 2 next season. Any ‘big money’ punts to bail us out this season can’t be at the expense of next seasons budget. I sense Rupp will prop us up for 18 months or so out of ‘good will’ as he clearly realises he’s accountable for the Rahic debacle. But he won’t do it indefinitely.

For me we need a CB, LB, Winger and Target Man. No more than that.

Caddis should stay (can’t rememebr when he’s contracted to).

Henry looks 2 yards off the pace and not sure he’s improved us, so not sure if he’ll stay. He probably will stay if Wright goes as that will leave us short in the middle.

 

I think LOB and Akpan COULD be the basis of a good central midfield. Flanked by two quality players out wide, a couple of extra defenders who can defend and a forward who can retain the ball, we’d improve markedly.

But really, when you read through the comments we need some pretty major surgery. I fear we’ve got too much to repair in just one window.

 

As a bare minimum, and if we keep the majority of others, we need a centre back, a left back and a centre forward who can hopefully get Eoin Doyle going.

Next on the list would be a winger (either side) and then if there's any money left another centre half would be welcome.

 

We neeed quality over quantity so I’d spend more on less. 4 through the door for me..

Whilst we do need points to keep in touch there is plenty of time and points to play for.. if we are within 3 or 4 points come January we have a good chance of escaping. Depending of course on the quality of our recruitment

 

I was seriously worried about not being able to score enough goals to gain enough points. Not an issue now. I would consider not offering extended contracts for Henry and O Brien and try and get some more athletic young legs in. Akpan can play that role. Pace out left. Maybe a left back but a centre back seems like it’s needed.
