    I agree with you.

What Rahic said he wanted to do was admirable. But implementation of the plan was appalling with no network in place to identify this talent; no proper coaching regime; no involvement with the development leagues to give the talent game time against their peers. Or if you like, trying to do everything on the cheap.

Without proper investment, it was a good plan but destined to fail.

Go on, tell me exactly how Bradford City are going to make a lot of money? And just to make it realistic, with no money. I know for a fact the guys at the top end of the commercial set up at City know how to make money in football. And with a club like ours it can only be done with the transfer of promising players to bigger clubs. And as we all pretty much know that goes into two strategies, either your own academy that produces talent, like Exeter, or paying fees for players like peterborough or Brentford for example. Whichever route takes significant investment, something which looks highly unlikely at City for at least the foreseeable future. And both these strategies are not foolproof and both need a high level of professionalism to come to fruition.
We've had this discussion goodness knows how many times on this forum about the long term strategy of this football club. Rahic did indeed mention it. And i have it good authority that Rahic did indeed talk a good game at various times during his tenure. But talking about it and implementing it are two entirely different things, Rahic talking a good game wasn't exactly rocket science, thousands of city fans could have told you exactly the same plan as Rahic had.

If Bradford City want to pay me I will help them.

Problem is they will do the standard each year with small budget lines.

It's a don't go above your station club and get in your box. Mates club! No one ask us questions!

Oh and buying an academy isn't what I am talking about.

As for Bradford City they don't talk and that's why this thread is here. It's a we do nothing Club. In Edin defence at least he talked a good game and had some ideas- currently nothing from Mr Rupp about our future plans.

If you want to talk to the guy at the top of the commercial department with your ideas i can always put you in touch with him. I know for a fact he's always open to new and innovative ways of making revenue at sporting clubs.

I' m sure he's doing his best. I feel for him really.

The mindset of the club is wrong. He will understand this.

Unlike you not to take a great offer like that up to help give your expertise to the club.

    Not a charity.

Too many organisations want to stick it with the club without giving true value or going the extra mile but that's because of our mindset of breaking even all the time.. they've the club by the balls!

There is some truth in this and something that is intrinsically linked to the clubs history. It can be changed as Richmond showed but in a sense its hard to deny who you are. Remember the mindset of the club when BFG took over, i think it was from Dave Simpson. The club was going nowhere fast. 5 years or so later little Bradford are in the premiership. Only a clear and directive mindset from the very top can achieve this and in this i agree with you that it is wholly down to Rupp as to where this clubs directive is.

Fordy raises some good points I think, it's also patently obvious that Edin's actual plan was never the problem, Edin was in fact the problem. It irks me slightly that Rupp got his money back from last season given it was his choice to trust edin and get involved with him. Granted Edin was a v smooth talker at times but Rupps worth 150m for a reason and that reason probably be wont be him being really gullible. The fact is that under his ownership we have gone backwards, had it still been the Lawn/Rhodes axis we may not be in the champ but we'd have had a reasonably competitive team the fans could relate to and Parky most likely. I almost guarantee we wouldn't have gone down, so its up to Rupp to show us why he is the right man to own this club until we're at the very least back where we started.

Going forwards I would like to see some plans and ambition beyond 'we will get to the champ in 5 years'. How? Is our strategy trust in Bowyer completely and sack off the youth team? Get him to be a head coach and promote youth? What is the actual plan there?

On the infrastructure line, I note some players actually enjoy training at the school and Bowyer himself is happy with it iirc. Which is fine as that's a bloody beautiful area to go to work in every day. However some kind of plan for our own setup would be ideal to just cut the issue out entirely and strengthen us financially in the long term, as it doesn't have to just be used as a training ground if we build it with the right facilities. Also, land in Bradford isn't exactly expensive is it.

I think the stadium is one to look at should we reach the champ due to the rent deal we have on it whereby again if I'm correct the rent is actually cheaper the higher division we're in. However renovation is one area I think is crying out for some investment, as parts of VP are blatantly old af now and the toilets are pretty grim still. I dunno about the food quality as im a posho prawn sandwich corporate ST holder these days but if the quality is poor then this urgently needs relaying to whoever owns the franchise with the implication we will re-tender or bring it in house if things don't improve. We're Bradford City and shouldn't be paying for sub quality service. We should also be looking to further utilise VP for commercial activity if possible however I'm aware the fanzone idea is still sat with the clowncil aka good luck with that. Is it feasible to host concerts or other sporting events for example? Probably not in its current state which is why money needs to be spent renovating.

Playing staff wise I think this one area you can't argue that we've scrimped, Vaughan is ex prem, Donaldo for all his terrible finishing has had a v good career as a pro and cooke probably won't be cheap either. This is an area where I think we are literally 2 to 3 players off smashing the league as we're already very hard to beat and flying pretty high.

So yeah. Ive elaborated on Fordys point which I believe was we need to show some gonads and speculate to accumulate a bit more. This can be done responsibly and nobodys suggesting we throw the kitchen sink at it, but there are real and tangible things the club can invest in responsibly to move forward.
