What are Rupp's Plans for City?

Aslong as Rupp doesn't shoot himself in the head due to all the stress Edin caused him we will be ok

Portsmouth were a supporter owned club for a while. Pompey have been a huge club in the past and arguably have a stronger footballing tradition than we have and a bigger following. The club, ie its supporters, owned its own ground (Fratton Park) and its training facilities. And yet they struggled to raise additional investment from their fan base to fund a promotion push. The only way to do this in the end was to put the club up for sale on condition that the new owner would provide additional funding over and above the buying price. It needed a rich owner (Michael Eisner) for this to be successful and he committed additional money to improving facilities at Fratton Park and more of his own money to increase the playing budget in order to strengthen the squad. Coincidentally this all happened in parallel with R&R buying our club. So far for Pompey, it was a good call from the previous supporter-owners.

Given Pompey's experience and looking at how few clubs are supporter owned (and none in the Championship), it would be a huge gamble for any supporters to do what you suggest. I doubt whether you'd find sufficient interest in the fan base to do it successfully. For better or worse, we have a cheap ticketing policy and still can't fill the ground. If you believe that there are sufficient numbers who would put their hands in their pockets to buy the club, let JR know and he could always have a go at selling them a season ticket next time.

Agree with this and you hit the nail on the head with a few points.

When we sold to Rupp and Edin, Lawn and Rhodes talked them up and said they would move the club forward and do things they can't do etc but nothing was in written down in the contract. The Pompey fan owners got it right. They had things in the contract the new owner had to do.

Listening to Man City's new investment today and the financial expects said the investment makes has come about because City make clear their long term plan, they've consistency and proper plan.

It's funny how yesterday Utd talked about revamping Old Trafford.

Point is it doesn't matter if you're a PL league or div 2 you have to highlight a plan in a positive way to make your club become attractive.

A house with planning permission is going to attract more attention than one without.

Bradford City just tick and don't talk about the future development. Bradford Council are the same then they wonder why they're not getting the attention.
